Who fucking cares? Some of you are just unbelievably autistic about this shit. The absolute horror that someone might shitpost in the rickshaw and think they "won" . Fucking let it go. I do not understand this obsession with making people feel "punished" for shitposting.

I get that from a user standpoint but from an admin standpoint you can see why I want some defined rules and for a "punishment" to be effective right?

Can you all not see that?

We have people begging to increase our numbers but when we have people that never learn from their "punishment" the new people aren't going to stay.

i don't see how keeping them quarantined to the shaw isn't effective. if you're worried about whether or not they change their behavior in a long term sense, well, they don't need to -- if they never change, then keep them permanently on RRP.

I'm not dishonest about anything. i got a random email about a reply to this thread and it was Tuco quoting you. I'm on my phone and didn't feel like scrolling back. So lazy maybe, dishonest, no.

You're a pretty angry person, it's sort of facinating really.

Good luck with your crusade sir, I wish you well.

You mistake honesty for anger because you are dishonest, and are so used to being lied to in your life.

Sorry not sorry. All you get from me is hard truths spoken plain. You interpret that as anger, thats all you.

Why not simply stop seeing it as "punishment" and start seeing it as "quarantine"? They want to post all day in the shaw? Let them. Let them shit up every single post in there. Let them scream until they're blue in the face. In there, and nowhere else, and that's pretty damn effective, no? If they want to take part in the rest of the community, they can stop.
It would be one thing if I could stop alerts from dragging people to their threads ...

Voting for this because you want less moderation puts the mods in a bad place. It means that if there is something that requires "punishment" then we have to ban the user instead of simply RRP them. Which I guess we can do, it just doesn't seem the best route to me. It seems that is what people want though, probably because they haven't thought it through.

If the new people are so retarded that they ignore a forum/thread that they don't like then they're not the members we're looking for

You can say that all you like but you come off as the single most triggered person on this forum. *shrug*

There would have to be a conversation here, instead of you making arguments from your ignorance that have been rebutted 1000 times before, and then expecting us to repeat ourselves endlessly because you need help catching up.

No, not quite. Your views are intractable, so there's really no point in having any kind of discussion with you. At least, not on this subject. So, I'm done trying. Have a good day, sir, and may your ignore button never wither.

All things are technically possible. Well, maybe not all things, but I'm pretty sure this one is possible, anyway. If Xenforo wasn't so bloody expensive I'd go try to do it right now.

You say this a lot. And it doesn't make any sense. Did you see my previous reply?

what sorts of things in your opinion would require punishment by banning? i'm okay with permabans for people doing illegal shit on the boards. i don't follow the gamergate thread, but i find it hard to believe that anything Tanoomba did in there was worthy of a permaban over an RRP.

Confining someone to the shaw is the effectiveness of the "punishment". Continued offence within a certain period of time of being unshawed = longer shawing.

The Shaw should be the South Side of Chicago, move the shitbags there and let them fires shots at each other all day. Any regular citizen who goes down that part of town should know there is a good chance they will see blood and catch a few strays. The police should never go in.
