Still away on vacation so no painting for me. I did go ahead and order 2 sets of Roman soldiers from the UK. WargamesFoundry. I'm excited to see them.
And still have a fairly big to do list on top of these guys..... At least 3 Stormtroopers, 2 Hero Forge custom minis, another space marine to complete the set, 2 giants and a big Dragon. Lots of minis to paint!

So I've been making some barricades for tabletop use.
I think I messed up with the dry brush, but it is the first time I've painted anything smaller than a car in 20 years. I still need to wash them and hopefully it will fix that to light dry brush.
Also need to dress them up a bit, any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

They don’t look bad to me after the wash.
Things I would do to dress em up a bit, add some darker wash at the bottom or dark brown paint, to look like mud. Or glue some static grass to the very bottom, depending on what kind of terrain these are going on.
Could also try adding some green to it to simulate mold/age but that might be kind of hard since you haven’t painted in a while.

Yeah I was thinking to stipple in some green/black/brown combo to simulate some growth on some of the boards. These are for inside/outside environment usage, basically some goblins or some other asshat humanoids tore the floor out of someone's house and made some protection out of it.
Also going to simulate some leather across some of the slats and draw some crude stuff on it. Maybe decorate the spikes.

This may have been touched on, but what are the best paints to use for hard plastic minis (KDM)? I haven’t really painted before, my gf is into painting but doesn’t know what kinds to use for this. Any suggestions

Basically going to let her take her pick of my KDM stuff and paint as she wishes, I have all the things 1.5.
My go to is Citadel, but the pots can be annoying to deal with. I also like Vallejo, Reaper, Army painter and they are all dropper. I’d suggest just going to amazon and search for starter kits by those brands and pick one you can afford and like the colors for. Army Painter has some nice big starter kits. Citadel has good ones as well but they aren’t as large so you’ll end up buying two or three different starter kits to get a similar amount of colors as the Army Painter one.
Citadel metallics kinda suck, not sure about the other brands metallics. My go to for metallics and colorshifts is Turbodork followed by Green Stuff World.
The type of paint is acrylics.

Thanks dude. Yeh they are still rough builds. Only one I'm keeping as a transport. I'll post pics of the back that I rebuilt

Yeah, doing all KDM I have in this style. I have all the core monsters done, the DBK, and a bunch of survivors.

Hey so what are the big sites for this hobby? In terms of I guess best gear and what people are into. I'm just becoming aware of sites like spikeybits.com and dakkadakka.com for example. Are there others people like to check out to kinda plug into the hobby?
