Kershaw reliably gives up multiple runs as a starter, why the fuck would they put him in with a 2 run lead?

Because they don't have the balls to bench their $31m pitcher for the playoffs. You shouldn't have to baby your "ace" by protecting him with home playoff starts. The players may say the right things, but inside they cannot really trust him on the mound in big games. There is just too much evidence to the contrary.
