The Turinabol metabolites share metabolites with some of the most common steroids on the planet. Metabolites from structurally similar common steroids can potentially form a Turinabol-like substance as these steroids break down or react. For example it was theoretically possible to test positive for Nandrolone in certain circumstances without having taken actual Nandrolone. There was a lot of cases in the minor leagues where nandrolone tests were argued on the basis that the human body could potentially create a few molecules of the stuff naturally. It could have been pseudo-science bullshit though. I'm not a biochemist.

It doesn't necessarily mean Turinabol is in these supplements, emphasis needs to be placed on "can trigger a positive test for Turinabol".

Technically speaking, yeah it changes nothing. He admits to taking supplements, again... He signed the agreement. He took the tests. The tests failed.

The piss test is only a question of do you have the metabolites or not. Its not like we have confirmed doped blood with an ng/ml on how much dope he likely swallowed. To Jones credit he was clean 21 days out.

Need to double check the reporting but wasn't he clean on the post-fight??

I didn't hear anything about the post-fight test just the post-fight blood test that he passed but that was a moot point since the blood test didn't even test for Turinabol anyways.

the sample size MLB has is huge, they do something like 5-8k tests per year
so the false positive angle really doesn't seem to hold water
"sources" said around that time they started using a different test that could detect it for a longer period
