I agree with the first part, I don't really agree with the second, there are definitely a large number of players that want it that way. But game design plays a huge part in this. Games can be designed to discourage this and games that actively try to discourage min maxing will appeal to a different fan base than those that encourage it.

Zythera was in my group earlier this morning. Some jackass pulled a full camp on top of us when they were at 10% mana. I noped the fuck out. was it you!?

I thought it was interesting, but tldr Nick is absolutely aware of the poopsockers and sorta addresses it, maybe not in the most satisfactory way but that it's within the thoughts.. i'll edit and throw the vod up when the stream is over.

edit; doesn't really say much, earthquakes are the sorta shake up and that they haven't released everything yet..

I fear that this will appeal to a very niche market but I could be wrong. I fall within that market. While I enjoy the end game, I'm not in any rush to get there. Just for the sake of comparison, I really enjoy being in Befallen, Unrest, Lower Guk, Seb, etc. I don't mind spending a few weeks in those types of dungeons repetitively and if there are multiple dungeons to bounce between in a tier or level range, I can enjoy them even longer.

What I really despise is what WoW has done. Is it efficient, yes.... Is it rewarding, yes (depends)... Dungeons in WoW stress me out and suck the life out of me. I do enjoy the design of some and their encounters but its all about knowing a path and completion. Its also tied to achievement so you push keys. Speed and completion are the two primary factors. So as a tank, I have to study and try to over gear with people expecting to be carried so they can get a keymaster achievement or whatever. You die once due to a DPS underperforming or maybe someone doesn't know the route and everyone drops like flies. It's a horrible design and there is nothing to enjoy in it. Not to mention, you never even adventure to the dungeon, you log in, queue up, and sit around. There is nothing immersive about it. You have decades worth of design and world building wasted for a glorified dungeon lobby.

Anyone been to Blacktide Bay yet? Went out there last night, couldn’t figure out how to zone in, so jumped in the well. That worked, but damn near fell to my death upon zone in. Explored a little bit, but wasn’t bound out there and didn’t want to get myself in a pickle. I was 24 and mobs were dark green, expected them to be lower.

I'm curious what you want night time to be? Completely dark so you can't actually play until it's daytime again? And if so, why?

Blacktide bay is a blast, it’s exactly the kind of dungeon you don’t see in mmos nowadays . It’s massive and confusing and has multiple distinct environments and some interesting stuff very deep in.

You can go out in the dark woods at night with a lantern and try it out yourself.

Hell, you should probably play the game with your monitor completely unplugged. You navigate by memory and sounds. What, are you a fucking baby and can't handle that?
