Im not saying that AD shouldnt be criticized for missing games, or that he hasnt. I was trying to make the point of all the sudden the media is pushing hes injury prone hard and LeBron made a comment based off of that, saying he was built to face adversity etc.

So now he has an excuse if they get eliminated. Its true though, he is going to have to realize he is no longer The King next season. Im the same age as Lebron, and we will both be 37 at the end of this year...shit just isnt the same. He is getting older, and doesnt command the same type of seismic dick riding he is used to.

I wonder if the Lakers would have won if AD was healthy?

Luka is spectacular, but this organization is about to pull a Lebron/Cleveland part 1. No faith or even slight hope that Cuban and the front office can corral a good #2. Porzi is at best a #3, and even then far too inconsistent. THJ is so streaky it's unreal. Doe doe is a great defender and team guy but blows hot and cold, we have gotten zip from our two new guys, I like Brunson, Kleiber is just okay, Boban (the true goat) has no business getting minutes in any playoff series, and he's starting for the Mavs ffs.

Luka's usage is insane and I worry he'll burn out early. Seems to be getting in some shape, which he'll need - that's the only reason Lebron is still going at his age after Cleveland did everything in their power to destroy his body his first 5 years in the league. That's the part people keep forgetting when comparing Doncic to other superstars in the league today.... he's Dallas' ONLY option on offense and everything runs through him. No other player in the league, including Steph, including Lebron, (okay Dame is probably in the exact same boat tbh) has to do everything. He sets up every shot, has to either score/assist and then he's always looking to position for an OR. They beat LA yesterday with him scoring or assisting 32/37 buckets for Dallas, in a game he was double teamed multiple times and also a game where Porzi gave Dallas 5 points until the very end (finished with 8). Also, a game where Boban not only started, but played serious minutes. Nobody else in the league is beating the Clippers last night in that scenario, not LBJ, not Jokic, Not Embiid, not Harden or Giannis. Nobody. And I don't give a fuck if anybody agrees with that. I said this last summer and feel even more strongly now that there is a serious racism problem in the NBA and it ain't the way they're painting it. A soft spoken, 3lite baller that's humble, respectful and good natured - He's the anti Lebron. This kid should be on the cover of every tv every night. The face of everything the NBA is marketing. Global appeal, speaks 4 languages, young and good looking and yet I see Zion everywhere, Trae (rofl), all these bums who at best will have HOF careers, a handful of all star appearances etc, meanwhile Luka will go down as an all time great if he continues on this path. He doesn't even need to improve much... FT's (abysmal), bitching at the refs, etc. But that's it, he has everything else in his locker on offense at 22 years old and is dominating the "best defensive team in the NBA".

I think the fact that Dallas is not Cleveland and the Mavs payroll flexibility will allow them to not repeat Lebron's first go in Cle. Dallas may want to try to dump Porzingis soon to give even more flexibility if they can, but even with him they should be able to fit another big contract within the next couple years. A lot of potential big names for 2022 FA. I think Luka will draw somebody then.. I just hope it's not Steph ahah.

Warriors office has to show something big in the next 6-8 months or I think they might seriously risk losing him. Of course Steph says he wants to be there and management says they're confident about extending him yadda yadda, but thats what they all say until the moment they leave. Maybe if Klay comes back at 90% of his old self that will be enough, we'll see ..

I think NBA fans know how amazing Luka is. I would even accept arguments that he's the best player in the NBA right now.

Maybe accept arguments but they'd be wrong. There are better players right now. However Luka is only 22. So from a pure value stand point, I would say Luka is the most valuable player in the NBA. (Not to be confused with MVP, bit those days are coming also)

This pretty much. He's really, really good but he definitely has some room to improve and there are a few guys I'd say are better right now. But being 22, if I was building a team for the next decade or more he'd likely be at the top of the list.

Living in MA is hilarious, couple of my Celtics fan buddies really saying they would rather have Tatum than Doncic, lol.

Who would you genuinely take over Luka right now? Keep in mind Giannis, LeBron, KD, Harden, Jokic, Dame, Kawhi all those guys have better supporting casts. And sure, some of these players will play more efficiently, or win more (team). Luka's 2nd best player this year has legitimately been Timothy Hardaway Jr. who can't even really create his own shot, and Luka & Carlisle are about to get him paid. The Mavs are a team of good reserves 6th man type players.

I firmly believe no, one singular player effects a game positively the way Luka does for his team. Dude scored or assisted on 31 of 37 field goals last night while being guarded by two of the best wing defenders to ever live, and then when that didn't work they threw really solid guys like Rondo, Morris, Beverly on him all series. There is a reason a lot of people are already saying dude is a Top 10 All-Time NBA talent, with a little projection you can see this guy on a different level than everyone but a small handful of NBA stars.

Making his free throws would be nice though...

Ya NBA execs must be pissed right now.
Right, if both LA teams end up out in R1 it's not great. At least they still got Giannis and Brooklyn. Can also put some of that hype into Luka and Jokic even if it's not the same.

Also as a thing, I know a lot of people like to shit on the Modern NBA but I don't see how anyone can really hate watching teams like Phoenix or Denver play.

Yeah this might be the beginning of the end for LBJ.

One of my good friends is a hardcore Laker fan and he's distraught. I think he assumed there were 2-3 rings after they got LBJ and AD. And now he's realizing it might just be last year.

For any "semi-smart" sports fan it will be really refreshing to see teams like the Jazz, Denver, and the Suns get more limelight. Well put together rosters with good philosophies etc. The narrative doesn't sell as much, but this is far better.

Yeah, I get it, harder to get casual fans interested in small market teams led by foreign players than it is to hype an LA team with Lebron or Kawhi. But there's some good basketball being played by some of these guys. Even as a foreign kid, Luka will end up being wildly popular and for good reason. I also kind of feel like Jokic is always just going to be underappreciated by casual fans.
