Ice hockey layman here. I have a question: what is the balance of forces in a shootout? In soccer, the strikers score something like 90% of the time, so any miss or save is momentous. Is it more balanced in ice hockey or is it expected for the keeper to block most shots?
Miguex has it right. If you want some additional perspective, only 22 players have a career shooting percentage of 50% or higher in shootouts (10 attempts minimum) out of 447.
