This is about as far removed from games I usually play as I can imagine. However, I just wanted to say to anyone who loves games in general but is a little off-put by the setting, tone, and characterization: get this game. It is absolutely a work of love. Every aspect of the game exudes quality, thoughtfulness, effort, and imagination. Just a stellar piece of work. I'm only about 6 hours in but I have to say that Drippy is just about my favorite speaking side-kick in any game, ever. Totally worth your money.

Finally managed to track a copy of this down on friday, everywhere was sold out, and for something that had totally flown under my radar I'm going to say this is , after 13 hours, currently looking to be my GOYT based on what's still coming up that I'm interested in (excluding next-gen launch titles and maybe Revengeance due to my love of Platinum). The graphics are outstanding, the gameplay mechanics work incredibly well, it's fun, the voice-acting is some of the best in ages, the story so far doesn't seem to be anything exceptional but it's not bad and there is some good humour in there.....it's pretty much everything that I loved about JRPG's and that got me in to development as a kid rolled in to an anime that I control.

That said, I am around level 23 and just got the ship, have cleared all the islands and bounties around the Cove but am now just getting raped by mobs on through the arch Shipwreck Beach....should I just ignore that and head to Hamelin or go grind a bit to like level 25 (or try to get third form of Mite + others) and clear that area out before moving on?

I suppose i can grab another, guess theres no real reason not too lol. It does make it quite a bit easier.
I'm currently just farming some tokotokos since i'm only 32ish hours in, and still working on getting the "extra" items for the wand.

1 shout kills any tokotokos in the battle lol

Oh yeah out of curiousity Sean/anybody that is finished:

At what point do you unlock Rank A rewards from the casino? Minimal spoilers would be good haha

I had the same question except for rank S, but since A seemed to unlock automatically for me I'm guessing its the same for S

I read somewhere that S is postgame, however theres no specifics about A. All i saw about "A" rank was that it unlocks at a certain point in the game, which doesn't really help me haha

Finally got around to picking this up, may not play it this week but oddly enough they only had one copy and it was a CE so that was worth the trip.

I just got to the point in the game were I can start farming famaliers! my question is does accuracy effect the rate in which they crit hit? or is it simply if they will hit or not? Im also trying to farm a bone head in the desert but its taking some time.

The "Nice" effect isn't really a critical, but it sort of takes the place of one. You hit a mob when it is rearing up for an attack (or block a special move) and you get bonus glims and it sometimes stuns the mob. Also interrupts the attack in question if it is interruptable. Amazing game, glad I bought it, yada yada. Griffy is OP as fuck as soon as you get him and evolve him the first time. It isn't even comparable to other familiars in the same time frame.

Also, accuracy really just improves your chances to hit, while (probably) counteracting the dodge chance of the target to a degree. My Lemur cat thing has retarded high accuracy and evasion, rarely seems to miss or get hit, while my mite misses considerably more often with a much lower accuracy stat. Anecdotal evidence, and all that.

Best game of this console generation for me. Nothing like saving your best for last, Sony. Everything about this game screams labor of love, and I can't believe it wasn't even remotely on my radar until the weekend. So good, its made me put down Puzzle and Dragons while I'm at home.

You might want to stop and grind at your current area and get everyone's levels up. Stock up on healing items and just take fights until you seem like fights are easier on your party.

Catch more familiars, pair up the ones that each person likes (when you are on the Friends and Familiars screen, select a familiar and press square. It'll show three icons across from each character and those are the genus that each one works better with) and give them to the proper people. Take that Lemur thing you got from like the second dungeon (the cat) and give it to swaine and he'll stomp face with it. Also pick up a monolith (the walking tombstone guys near the port) and give it to swaine as well. Make sure you are putting skills you want in each familiar's ability box. Buy upgrades when you can't make them. You're plenty high enough for the area, you just aren't keeping up on the "little" things.
