may wanna avoid buying a 7800 XTX for now, this guy says long term use may be damaging cards due to thermal issues

he's german so i trust him on engineering and killing polacks

AFAIK this is only for reference models

der bauer claims it's some kind of defect in the vapor chambers probably not circulating the coolant properly.

$799 4070ti but interesting this says there will be no FE edition, only third parties like Zotac, MSI, etc (rip evga)

Not having an FE is dumb, considering the non-FE cards look like garbage now.

4070 Ti doesn't look that bad. It's $100 more than the 3080 MSRP but performs between 3090 and 3090 TI, has DLSS 3.0, has better video encoder, and has better perf/power efficiency

The 4070 Ti performs slightly more than 2x a PS5 at rasterization (and obviously more when using DLSS 3.0)

The 4070 Ti makes the 4080 look worse. The 4080 is only about 25% faster while costing 50% more (at MSRP). Queue Mist Mist copium

If it's a Ti it should be compared to Ti models, especially since it won't have a founders edition and none of them will actually be sold at MSRP.

Tiers and naming get more convoluted while none of them are worth the price on the sticker.

I'm seeing 3 models at MSRP

Guess I'll stick with my 3060ti at 1440 and low end games.

I'm only interested in FE cards at this point. If they had released this as an FE at $799 I'd be pretty pissed. But as it was, I knew I was paying an effective $200 so I could flip my 3080 FE sooner.

I'm honestly considering going back to nVidia. I was just going to snag a "cheap" 6900XT, but I think the 4070 outperforms it slightly, no?

AMD really fucked up this gen, both from a CPU AND GPU standpoint. I had such high hopes!

Hot and loud, AMD gonna AMD.

Though I still think the x3D chips are gonna be nutso. Hope Intel can come up with something to compete in that space. They literally pioneered it with the 5775C and then abandoned it.

That's just it, they seemed to be turning the corner. The Ryzen 5xxx had fantastic thermals and really sent a warning shot to Intel. The Radeon 6000 series of GPUs had very competitive performance and slightly better thermals than nVidia.

But now, they've thrown all that away with the 7000 series of chips in that they not only have horrible thermals, they also don't beat out the performance of Intel's offerings like the 5000 series did for a while. And the 7000 series of Radeon looks like a complete disaster - thermals are horrid and performance is "meh". Not that nVidia is really offering much better, but that makes it even more disappointing - they didn't have a very high bar and still missed.

So, is it the crypto fags we have to thank for the $1200+ GPU's these days? I remember when $500 would get you near the top tier cards. Xbox Series X really is an incredible bargain for the price to performance compared to PC's anymore.
