Well it may be a blessing that he's autistic, as he doesn't play with the other kids. So maybe.. he didn't get it. Taking clippers to my 2 year olds head might be traumatic

Yeah, so some people I know just had quite the accident. A woman, her two month old, her 2 year old, and her 4 year old were driving along and missed a curve and ended up in a pond. The 2 and 4 year old kids died almost immediately, the mother and 2 month old are clinging to life right now. The father can't even speak.

Pray if you're the type to do it. Can you fucking imagine?

Sorry for your friends tragic and heartbreaking loss.
Since you know them, how about you make or share a gofundme for the survivors instead - or something similar concrete? I fail to see how prayers from strangers, us, would do anything for them, the family. Don't mean to be that atheist m'lady hat tipper, but I'd appreciate if we keep the religious non-sense out of the grown up threads. If anything, thank the paramedics, the docs, nurses, friends and family etc for doing what they humanly can to keep the survivors afloat. Maybe I'm too jaded working in the hyper acute on a daily basis, not seing a deity in any of this, lurkingdirk lurkingdirk .

Choosing religion is a grown up thought. I'm very confused by that rant
Maybe it's the religion rotting your brain, I donno. Did you miss the part about me suggesting he actually doing something other than ...praying?

Can we get back to the parenting thing - and leave the scare-oh-can-you-imagine-fright-porn-say-a-prayer to a different thread? Thaaaanks.

I'm not religious

Asking for thoughts and prayers is how some.people deal with tragedy

Forget it though, you can dig your own grave

Prayers are one of the things that people say and at times is interchangable with keep in your thoughts. I let it slide personally and I am not religous. I've talked to several people this week I haven't talked to in a long time. and found it kind of refreshing they said thoughts and prayers in relation to me.

It beats "I hope you die a slow and painful death".

I've told people you will be in my thoughts and prayers if I thought it was something they might like to hear and it appealed to them when I was talking about just in my thoughts. It wasn't about me it's about the person you say that to. I would say a lot of stuff to someone that was in a bad way even if I didn't believe it.

That is a hell of an accident. Losing some family but not all someone is going to get surviors guilt :( Sucks all around, no idea how you would deal with that at all.

Okay, dickhead. If there is a gofundme I'll post it.

wife and I went from dead set against to meh to fuck it lets stop birth control and whatever happens happens over the course of about 3-4 years

we're in spot with our success and the increasing amount of free time we have to where it's pretty silly not to

Good for you Dude! After thinking I wanted kids my whole life there was a 2-3 year period early in my marriage where i didn't want kids, because my wife is so fucking awesome I just wanted her all to myself and because I was dealing with some childhood drama. The truth is though if people like you and me don;t have kids we will truly end up like...

I am sure we are getting out bred by the mouth-breathers 10 fold, but if enough of us do our part we can hold on to the power over the Walmart Shoppers.

As someone who lost a parent in my teens, dealt with grief and lifes lemons as well as god's soldiers in all aspect of this, well, I think concrete help, practical and an economic reach-around, whatnot is what's needed before prayers - for the survivors.
It still urks me having to deal with well-meaning religious people seeking to save another soul, sometimes it seems to be their own, before the flesh. I think my empathy has over the years shifted almost exclusively towards the ones immediately and direcly affected as opposed to the collateral feelings of strangers. I dedicated my life to helping others, in practice, here medicine. It's what what I do professionally, sperging to save my fellow man. God is an enemy, always.

Now back to how much parenting rocks! My 7yo tried Crash Bandicoot on ps4 for the first time today, glorious. Ipad being her only real controller experience, wife previously cock blocked that father-daughter gamerdream for years because dolls, bah. Kid said: dad, I learned how to bypass this monster, see - jumping into a pit and respawning. Dad I learned not to jump into pits too now. Third time perfect. I'm so proud, didn't even throw a fit, just rational problem solving. Dark Souls soon, giggity. Or some pony game, whichever comes first.

The amount of head washing and fin e combing might be more traumatic.e

Not being snarky. A quick buzz might be the lesser evil. Dunno your kid, but I would lean into thinking it is.

His mother might be able to sell it as a big boy haircut.

Yeah, buzz the head. It will make this go away so much quicker.

Of course, he might not have it. It has happened many times that someone in one of my kids classes had lice and we didn't get it. My youngest ended up getting it at summer camp.
