yeah I'm only using the internal drive for now, I have a 8TB drive with about 4TB of PS4 games but i'm not hooking it up until they release a few firmware patches. Zero issues with the Series X and external drives, but I see way too many people complaining about having to factory reset the PS5 when a download or game freeze triggers a data error on external. My PS5's been on about 70 hours the past week, just internal drive, and zero issues other than having to do a factory reset once due to not being able to download COD Black Ops PS5 edition. I plat'd Astros Playroom and 13 Sentinels in the last week, gonna start the COD campaign this weekend so no issues with PS4 or PS5 games.

I'm sure it'll get fixed within a month but it is pretty annoying. I recommend any new PS5 owner do the following, for now

- don't use a USB external drive, at all, for now. I transferred my PS4->PS5 using network transfer and the USB drive and I think i fucked my initial setup, and had to do a factory reset because of it. Just install the games you are 100% gonna play RIGHT NOW on internal drive and stick with that. You can backup all your PS4 saves to a USB drive for xfer later, they are also all on the cloud if you have PS+

- don't enter rest mode, ever. I power off the PS5 after every session. Some issues with downloads and rest mode still persist I think.

- be aware the PS4<->PS5 versions of next gen games are weird and you have to pay careful attention. It constantly tries to put the PS4 version of COD2020 on my home page, which requires a download. Pressing the "..." button on the right of the Download button on the home page lets me select the PS5 edition which has the correct Play button. Clearly a bug that should be fixed soon.

- (fixed yesterdays patch I believe) the front USB port was having issues charging some dual senses.

I'm already wishing Sony had just left the UI alone like MS did. No folders is a huge WTF? and it doesn't even put all the games I have installed on the main strip, but at the same time there's no apparent way to remove useless shit like PS Now. Same with media apps--I installed Netflix, Prime, and Hulu during initial setup, but only Hulu (which I have paused until Letterkenny S09 releases) appears on the top level. Doing anything in the UI is a pain in the ass, compared to the Series X which looks and works identical to the X1X.

DualSense hasn't blown me away either. Biggest complaints are that the dpad is super mushy, and the face buttons don't feel too great either. Big thumbs up for getting rid of the light bar though, at least there's that. I will definitely be using DS4+back button attachment for all BC games, and I'm not even really sold on using it for Demon's Souls at this point.

Something's still wonky there. When I stopped playing Demon's Souls last night the DS5 was at 1 bar, so I plugged it into the front USB port and left it to charge overnight (rest mode with power saving crap all turned off) and when I turned the console back on this morning it was still only at 2 bars. Haven't tried the rear ports yet so no idea if it's the port or something weird with rest mode or what.

My battery pack charger for my Xbox controllers has a USB-C passthrough port on it, so I guess I'll just use that to charge the DS5 from now on anyway. Especially if there's still some stuff broken with rest mode and I need to be shutting the PS5 down instead.

PS5 released here yesterday. On sale now on the Norwegian auction sites for around $1.3k up to $5k. See only two at 5k, but dozens at the $1.3kish range with actual bids on them. Several listings of "wanting to buy" at a max price of 1k. So if you had any available consoles here, it would sell instantly at a listing of 1k.

Since I doubt there will be any fresh batches released here this year based on statements from retailers, I'd expect the prices to keep going up towards Christmas. If there really aren't more consoles coming to Norway this year, I wouldn't be shocked those 5k consoles actually sold at those prices.

I did order a DS5 and a charge station though to use as my PC controller. They had those in stock in stores still.

Any android users Id recommend installing "Hot Stock" if you're looking to get one at retail price. I saw an amazon stock notification yesterday morning, clicked the link, clicked buy now, and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. Obviously make sure all your payment info is updated and ready to go. They may have an iphone app too Im just not sure.

It's on iOS as well. Just signed up and setup alerts. That's pretty cool that it was fast enough for you to snag one.

We shall see, I have a tracking number via usps but it has said "arrived at carrier facility" since yesterday and no updates today, hopefully someone didn't steal my shit, but quite honestly that would be my luck.

That said, the app itself seeks to work really well. I also read that for places like Walmart / Target / etc you have a better shot if you purchase via their app as opposed to the website, as less overall traffic.

Starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my DualSense. The only way I've successfully gotten it to charge is with a USB-C to USB-C cable connected to the front of the PS5. The USB-A on front worked for pairing but it doesn't charge, nor did connecting it to my Xbox battery charger or my phone's charger (both also C to C).
