Most of the doctor centeric episodes where way to preachy outside the general premise that they wanted to say and get across - it should have been a standard B story not the commanding A story- and then those episodes did not have a B story even to help.

Voyager is the oddity in that the last season may have been one of the worst of the series. Pretty much the entire last season was depressing hopeless shit, outside of the Finale and the Chekotay/Seven shipper episode. The entire blob aliens dying off and leaving no living memory of their experiences before melting was a metaphor for that entire season. The issue with that show is that the Doctor and Seven were so much better characters (and acted) than everyone else it was torture any time they did a story with other cast members to keep the actor happy. Beltran and Mulgrew were really cunty about it, but I give Beltran a pass because the writers basically forgot he existed for five seasons.

Chakotay/Seven episode was pure cringe, and didn't particularly care for Beltran or his acting, or his episodes as they were tryhard spiritual nonsense. Like Janeway's lizard spirit animal episode.

The doctor and Seven had the best episodes.

It also didn't help that the supposed Indian expert that they used to create Chakotay was a fraud.

Yeah Beltran himself was somewhat pissed about that. He mostly writes and directs now. I always liked him, but then I really liked his debut role in Night of the Comet and it was nice having a first officer who had personal flaws and wasn't just trying to fuck everything that moved. But once Seven was on the series, the writers completely gave up on him. Problem is, despite being eye candy Ryan can actually act and Robert Picardo is amazingly great, so no fucking way would I want to write for the other lumps if I am working on that show. I mean, aside from Mulgrew (and Beltran doing directing work) none of the rest of that shitshow ever did anything else after it ended. Fucking Garret Wang is still trying to drum up interest in a Voyager movie LOL.

Roxann Dawson has had a pretty decent directing career since Voyager. But yeah, Voyager suffered from a pretty shit backbench.

My main problem with Beltran is the first time I saw him on television was some shitty softcore porn skinimax like show where he was fucking some big titted woman on a couch. It was hard to disconnect from that image when it came to Chakotay.

God that episode was fucking awful. I hated the Kes character and kept hoping she'd die in a horrible transporter accident, leaving Neelix to commit ritual suicide by ejecting himself out into space.

This should make your day:

Rumor was that she was going kind of batshit before she got written off the show. Adding Jeri Ryan was just a perfect timing thing and she was cut for "budget reasons" i.e. crazy and no match for the huge titty Nordic awesome of Ryan.

The concept of Kes's character was very intriguing. With a 7 year lifespan it was set up perfectly for the audience to see a character move through all the various stages of life over the course of the series.

The actual writers, however, never figured out what the hell they wanted to do with the character and she just ended up written into a very dull corner.

The writers on the rebooted thundercats handled the short life motif with grace in one episode using that little grass knight. Voyagers writers were conplete fucking hacks.

They set the stage to bail on that problem (that they gave themselves) pretty early on when Kes met other Ocampa that were living with the other Caretaker. The leader was much older than one typically lives and didn't look like the crypt keeper in his old age.

Quark is probably my favorite Trek character of all. Space Jew Ferengi are hysterical.

Just have his Locutus implants reactivate and Picard realizes that Humanity is doomed unless he takes over and guides it.

haven't read any star trek comic book but this might be cool
4-Way 'Star Trek' Comics Crossover with Original, TNG, DS9 and Voyager Crews Coming in 2019!

For the first time ever, the beloved crews of four Star Trek incarnations – The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager – will be pitted against one another in IDW's mind-blowing comic book miniseries, Star Trek: The Q Conflict. Debuting in January, this epic six-part event features the writing team of Scott and David Tipton (Star Trek: The Next Generation – Mirror Broken) and art by David Messina (Cloak and Dagger, Star Trek: Countdown).

When a dispute between godlike beings threatens the galaxy, it will take all of Starfleet's best captains to stop them. James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, Kathryn Janeway, and Benjamin Sisko must go head-to-head in a competition rigged by the arrogant Q and his nigh-omnipotent cohorts.
