Thank you for the kind words, results are in: broken jaw, broken palate, broken legs and paws BUT she's doing okay! She's going surgery tomorrow to fix some bones but vet told me she's moving around and engage petty play. I'm sooo relieved :D Also it's gonna be €3k but I don't care because she's my baby :emoji_heart:

She looks to be resting well, hopefully she'll be back on her feet soon (she is also way more tolerant of that cone than any of my cats would be). Without that cone, she'd be full on Predator stealth mode on that cat bed

I have a black cat that exclusively lounges on the darkest, most shaded surface available. I'd post a pic, but she's basically invisible. Probably great for avoiding predators, less so for avoiding being stepped on.

There’s a black foot cushion under my desk. My black cat loves to sleep on this damn thing and blends right into it. The amount of times I accidentally bonk her with my feet makes me sad, but she keeps on coming back.

Painkillers are off for a few days now. She's eating normally, gets constipated so I'm torturing her into laxatives right now but she seems to still get PTSD about her fall, she's resting in the washing machine for the last few days since her fall. She doesn't seem in urgent care, purrs when I"m around, answers to food. Poor thing, her collar wil get removed next week.
PTSD wise she was in my bed last night, she felt so cuddly and resting until she went full prey mode for some random bird passing by :D

There are thousands of cats in shelters/pounds looking for homes. The SPCA is just a few miles from my work, and so far 3 of the 4 cats I've owned have come from there and been amazing.

One of them, about 10 years ago, was $40 to adopt (I hear it is $60 now). They called me back later that day and said they fucked up, it was during a sale to try to get more cats adopted and it was actually only $4. They offered me the $36 back if I wanted to come pick it up. I told them to keep it because they put way more than $40 worth of work into each cat anyway.

But seriously, fuck pet stores. They are probably getting their animals from puppy/kitty mills anyway. The SPCA spays/neuters them, gives them their shots and a checkup, gives you a coupon for a free checkup as well, and has a 30 day return policy if it gets sick or you just can't get along with it. And I bet it is cheaper too. Not much more you can ask for, I feel.
Yeap, every dog I've had (recently 7, lost 2 age/health, wanted to stay low, took in a coworkers pup so back to 6....) has been used.

The one exception was wifes bernadoodle she spent a lot on, and it's the only dog I've ever hated. High energy pushy/needy/emotionally fragile/pisses everywhere, gets into everything if left alone a second, snaps at the other dogs.

Coworkers dog she foisted onto me. Supposed to be maybe newfoundland malinois mix

Bad pic to judge but to me just looks like a jet black shepherd with a little extra hair kinda behind his head and neck. 1.5 years old or so, was found dumped on the highway in front of her house when he was little. Huge though she said he kinda got skinnier with growth spurt, depending how he fills out, could be another 100lb dog on our hands.

Picking up he was very comfortable/confidant. Been an adjustment here, pretty skittish. Good at laying around though, I'm glad we got his bed to give him a kinda safe space.

Working on trying to figure out if he'll be safe in house loose with parrot cage and our pyrenese. Because he's not crate trained, and I suspect that might have him lose his mind more.

He was like an indoor when she was home, day time out in a half open half barn stall dog pen. Once I'm sure he's not going to run away from home, I halfway want to take him and the pyrenese and convert to full time front porch puppies. (Dont ask how my wife turned the Pyrenese livestock dog into a house bitch)

We have a half pyrenees house dog, and he spends about 95% of the time just flopped in the floor. (the other 5% is barking his stupid head off at any fucking random thing he hears from outside) Basically any time I've ever seen one in yards/fields that I drive past, they're doing the exact same thing, just outside. In retrospect, it was a dumb choice made without any research, but as it turns out, they're pretty great house dogs (based on my sample).

Yeap, he recently had hip displacia surgery, just now getting to where he can sorta run around a bit, had to stop him playing w/ the other muts. But if we leave him outside, he has about 2 spots hell stop and just bark at anything moving outside, forgotten him for a few hours and he hasn't budged. Doesn't ever whine to be let back in etc. All the other dogs get kenneled but he is left loose in the house.

The rest get up to no good left alone either boredom or seperation anxiety. I can stick my hand under guest bathroom door from the red heeler mixes we took in suddenly and had them in there locked up until we could get a kennel... Luckily old farmhouse was kinda shit, so various pieces of trim we were going to redo some day anyways,.

That's great progress, pleased for you. Re: laxatives - miralax powder works amazingly well for cats mixed into wet foods. Adjust dosage based on body weight vs humans, and ensure lots of water available.

I had a cat lived to a very old age (20) with originally massive run-over injuries that resulted in narrowing of pelvis and major constipation problems. UK based, and the laxatives available were terrible, imported some miralax - was a wonder. Vet nurses wanted to know the secret, so hopefully that is still being passed on.

Sansa is having a rough couple of months. Had a bad cold that I took her to the vet for in March. In April, she broke a tooth and had to get a dental to get it removed. A couple weeks ago, noticed the pupils in her eyes were completely mismatched and weren’t reacting to light, so took her to the ER plus a follow up. Best they could guess was she had trauma of some kind or a concussion.

Now she’s been limping on her front left leg since last Monday. Assumed she just had an awkward jump off her window sill perch. Was still not better by Thursday, so took her to the urgent care. They got her some pain meds and maybe I should have just gotten X-rays then, but my wallet has already been hurting and I was hoping the meds would help her get through it and she’d start to get better. Made an appointment Tuesday for her just in case and to do blood work, since she’s had two rounds of NSAIDs in very close succession. Today, I had to hand feed her breakfast, which she wanted to eat but couldn’t steady herself enough at her bowl to do it. She can barely walk. In the ER now with her and going to get those X-rays. Should have just done it the first time, since it would have been a lot cheaper, too. None of the doctors feel like it’s a fracture, but could be a hairline or could be some bone mass or tumor. Also could be ligament if the X-rays come back clear, then would have to maybe get a ct scan for that.

Was going to try and wait for her appointment tomorrow, but she was in so much pain tonight, I couldn’t do it. I just want her to feel better again.

Well, good news is her X-rays are normal. Bad is that I’d have to find some place to do a CT/MRI to determine if she has soft tissue damage. She also could have arthritis (she just turned 10 this month). At least getting some more pain meds for her tonight. Going to keep the appointment tomorrow and see what options there are for her. I just hope I can get her to eat.

This morning has been bad. She can hardly walk at all, anymore. She takes a couple of steps and then just collapses and lays there shaking. I noticed her back right leg is hurting her, too. I tried to see if I could move her appointment today up, but they have no slots. Just trying to keep her comfortable until I can take her in. They gave her pain meds last night, gave her some gabapentin when we came home at ~1 this morning. Gave her the opioid stuff when we woke up. Nothing seems to be helping her at all. I'm a fucking mess.

Both our pups have mild hip and back knee arthritis. So they literally have a script for low dose meloxicam once a day. Which actually gets to the fun pet story of the day. One has some more pain and they gave her daily gabapentin too.

Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus and I give the dogs their medicine. We found that cheaper than the dog pill pocket things was just to get bulk store sliced "american cheese" and tear a slice in half, and wrap a pill in each half. I often give the dogs this, she does occasionally.

She complained that one of them (Sugar) wouldn't eat it and spat the cheese out. I've never had problems and this exchange occured.

Mrs. Haus : She wont take it, she spits it out
Me : Seriously? She always takes it when I give it to them... .
Mrs. Haus : Nope, she won't. I had to put it in her mouth and hold her mouth shut until she swallowed last night.
Me : Did you sing the cheesy treat song before giving it to them?
Her : ....
Me : ....
Me : >Takes cheese wrapped medicine, opens patio door<
Me : :emoji_musical_note::emoji_musical_note:Cheesy Treat!:emoji_musical_note::emoji_musical_note:Cheesy Treat:emoji_musical_note::emoji_musical_note:Which girls want a cheesy treat:emoji_musical_note::emoji_musical_note:???
Dogs : Gulp, Gulp , down the hatch on both.
Me : >Glances at Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus <
Her : Well... YOU can give it to her from now on...
