Its important to note here they used an entirely 'new' server/emulation core for this. Well, it's not chronologically new, but it's new in the sense that none of the other big emu projects have used it, but it allowed them to do some pretty fancy custom work on the client and in-game assets etc.
Kinda looking like it was never seriously used for a reason though if it can't scale past ~2k connections or whatever.

I have no idea what the customer base of retail wow is looking like but I can see very clearly every time I login the launcher tells you how many people are on the discord at least, right now at 1115 am EST its 40k players. Now discord isn't exactly a 1 to 1 for active players, I tend to linger a few months after i stop playing a game but eventually discord gets too cluttered and you gotta purge all the channels you aren't actively engaged with.
A52 and Elune both have ridiculously huge populations, A52 so overwhelming so that I could not even fathom, chat flew by so fast must have been 10k+ online at all times, one of the main reasons I opted for bronzebeard to get away from all the people.
They claim on their website 1million accounts created since launch in 2016 so if only 10% of them stick around and still play on one of their 5 servers (2 open, 3 PTR) then yeah 100k seems easy

I think people just want a somewhat new amount to play that is fun. Every mmo that I can think of that has released in the past 5 to 10 years has been terrible.
Whether it be in features, performance, or tuning...they all suck.

Personally think they would be better off just canceling this launch and schedule for a month or so out.
Right now you have thousands of people spamming every second to get in and its pissing everyone off.
Just make an announcement that they didn't anticipate this demand, and need X amount of time to ramp up their launch.
This would keep 1000s of people spamming to get in, to get 5 mins of playtime and then the servers crash and continue to get irritated.
Just re-launch when ready vs having everyone frothing at the mouth trying to get in for days / weeks / however long this lasts.

Bro did he ever take a single peek at the WoW private server reddit? It's literally a den of immaturity and that's where the majority of people find WoW private servers. This isn't the good ol days of you type in WoW private server and look at the list of top 100 WoW private servers on google just to play on a server that doesn't even have Blink coded properly so it just flings you.
I mean come on you have tribalism over fucking WoW private servers where people actively sling shit and doxx servers when they get patches and stuff just because they don't like a different server. What the fuck did they think would happen? The community to just go "It's okay guys good try"? Fuck no they're gonna piss and shit themselves while slinging shit at you because you upset them because they were boasting how "IT'S THE BEST SERVER EVER" When it wasn't even out and the failed launch proved the people who said "It's not out yet" Right and people hate being proven wrong.
Also their comment on how they have a well paying job and such, it's a literally no one cares situation, if anything it will probably only add fuel to the fire.
Glad I dodged trying this server totally ready for the doxxing on Turtle when 1.18 drops.

The MMO player community is full of some real losers. Present company included. I got kicked out of a guild in Turtle WoW because some dude was celebrating in Discord that he made it to the middle class. When I congratulated him and asked him about the job he said he got on SSDI, Section 8, and whatever else so all of his expenses were taken care of and he'd finally "made it."
Thinking he was trolling I just went on about how you aren't middle class if you live on the dole. I was also banned from the discord for this.

Compared to most of the private server crowd actually having a good job is a big deal. The majority are living on the dole. Turtle Wow 1.18 patch does look good btw.

Turtle is faster leveling and provides more player power with their rune system. Epoch is closer to the vanilla experience with expanded quests / content.
Trinitycore and they just now working on multi threading? Yikes.
I imagine they are making a decision as we speak if they want to limp along and add 2-3 more servers to later merge when optimized or if they are going to delay and relaunch in few months.
