Due to general harassment, trolling, and doxing bombardment, the staff is under tremendous pressure to say something positive every day.

"We got Linux done we'll be up in a day" was just them trying to pour water on the fire they have in Discord.

I expect a lot more "Breaking news" updates from Epoch staff as they continue to string people along to mitigate the current damage being done by individuals engaged in targeted harassment.

They can literally just make the Discord read-only. Or run an adult-like organization and post updates to their website.

Seems my Nostradumbass predictions were reasonably close to accurate. It took about two weeks to retool Trinity into the Linux env. They haven't succeeded yet but they claim to be Close(tm).

5k+ concurrent players online without any network issues is pretty damn close. Their issues now are apparently database related.

So if this doesn't manage to make it up this week, it will probably a lot more work to get it ready than the think.

What is the best alternative for a classic + server that is relatively fresh?

As said above, Turtle WoW has a fresh server coming Aug 17.

Ascension Bronzebeard will release in "1-2 Months". If you want to wait that long for something.

Yea definitely just play the new Turtle server next week. Turtle is really good, it just has been languishing with the same server for like 5+ years now and trying to come in to that fresh is a fucking nightmare.

If they even manage to turn Epoch on this month it's gonna be an unstable, laggy mess. There's 0 reality in which they shift their entire server/codebase to debian in a few weeks and it isn't a huge boondoggle. Assuming their server core can even run a server the size they are expecting in the first place.

New turtle server is European rp pve? I mean i guess technically all servers are European so they avoid getting sued but never seen one specifically advertised as such.

Never put too much thought into turtle, tried it out years ago but their client is just so fucking dated and their efforts to balance vanilla classes is worse thsn blizzards.
