It was originally supposed to be DLC for SR3...and then halfway through putting it together they realized they already had more content in it than the entirety of SR3...so they said fuck it and made it SR4...and added even more shit. This is essentially Saints Row 3 with super powers. Same city (with a few touch ups), mostly the same vehicles, even pretty much the same customization options, clothes/outfits, etc. Pretty much anything that was in SR3 is in this as well.
Saint's Row started as a GTA clone. The first game was mediocre to okay at best, was basically just a little on the silly side, and more of a throw back to like GTA 3 and earlier GTAs with shit like rampage icons and the like.I have a confession to make, bros. I've never played any SR games. I've got them in my Library, but still haven't played.
But this ... this looks like hella fun.
Break it down for me. How would you compare SRIV to the other sandboxy games I've played like GTA:SA, and Prototype?
SR4 is 3 on steroids, and a giant satire/parody of just about everything videogame/internet, etc ever.Saint's Row started as a GTA clone. Saint's Row 2 was pretty decent, and was somewhat the same thing, but a little sillier or I dunno. The games don't take themselves very seriously. Well that one did pretty well, so with Saints Row 3 they went fairly all out ridiculous, the first 10 minutes of the game are, in my opinion, one of the best intros to a video game ever done because they are so over the top but funny, what have you. You'll have to play it for yourself I don't want to ruin it. It really is great.
Saint's Row 4 is 3 on steroids.
Speaking of bugs; My favorite moment so far has been when I was doing one of those data hacks where you have to stay in an area holding off waves of NPC's... The npc's and cars started showing up more and more fucked up, from freaky ass model proportions to cars coming in upside down and bouncing around. I thought the physics engine just decided to fall apart, then realized it was 100% intentional. So far in my 3 hours of playtime I've only encountered one bug while trying to paint a car I was modding.
Had to alt-f4 out of that one.
Yea, it's supposed to be you disrupting the matrix and it going all screwy. There are AI side mission nodes you can do that seriously warp when things get close to them. It's hella fun tossing things into it to see how they get messed up. Will a dude spawn some huge ass titties? Will his eyes get huge? Will he go all gangly or come out a toilet? It's fun times.Speaking of bugs; My favorite moment so far has been when I was doing one of those data hacks where you have to stay in an area holding off waves of NPC's...
