So, do you think there will be a Second American Revolution?

What time frame? All empires fall eventually and I'm sure we will be no different. Given our location on the map internal strife the more likely cause.

Soon? No chance in hell. Few hundred years? Who knows but eventually it's probable we could implode.

Aren't flamethrowers a pretty ineffective weapon anyway?

It's like when caligula was killed and an attempt was made to restore the republic, however by that time rome had been an empire for ~60 years there weren't even that many people alive who remembered what it was like to live in a republic nevermind a stable one, so even though it was in their hands to restore the republic at that point it was a feeble attempt because it really wasn't supported by the masses, they just continued the empire system.

which reminds me of something freud said.

"Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility."

It won't happen. If it did it would be over so fast that it would barely matter. Our military has been actively conditioned on subtle levels for a long time to contend with "domestic terrorism" and the average mouth breathing dipshit could not handle being cut off from hot pockets and reality TV long enough to stay in the game. If it ever does happen, it will be because we have crossed the tipping point and we are basically fucked anyhow (peak oil, worldwide famine, ect) and no one has the time and resources to put it down. Bixxby has the right of it.

Define "Revolution"

Mass bloodshed/death or no?

If yes, predictably who'd win? Proletariat or Bourg?

Bourg. I vote, I hope not.

There will never be a revolution as long as the poor are kept happy with welfare, food stamps, and other social programs from the government. The lower middle class doesn't want to lose what they have which is an ok life and anyone above them could give two shits as long as they can play xbox and go out to dinner.

Collapse of Wallstreet would have made it possible for revolution to rise but they've bought themselves a slowburning wheel of destruction to forgo an inescapable violence.

Dude assault rifles are a dime a dozen these days. Why don't you round up a few good men with a few good ARs and take the first shot bro?
The tide is starting to turn, overt action now will only set us back. Microsoft announcing recently that the US government is a "sustained threat" shows that consciousness is beginning to rise. The realization may soon occur that the current corrupt federal and state governments only have power because people believe they do. They have neither the resources nor authority to enforce their illegitimate claims if the people say no en masse.

For a revolution to occur in the U.S. the economy has to completely implode. If the U.S. economy goes down in flames, (run away inflation, what have you) the rest of the world can't be doing too hot either. Anyways, lack of funding means all of these nifty control structures we have in place that actively prevent any kind of armed revolt from getting beyond a whisper, become weaker or go away.

All kinds of social control structures suffer in an economic collapse. Schools, Fire Protection, Police, Hospitals ect. You can look at isolated areas of the country to see what life is like without those services.

Throw in some sure to occur natural disasters and you could wind up with certain, impoverished communities simply not coming back. People might still try to live there, but they would have to look to outside agencies to handle most civil services and law enforcement responses. It would be like sending aid to a not so foreign country. It could get pretty wild in these parts as response times get longer and longer.

Now this is all just a degradation of community cohesion and stability. Nothing here is really an organized response against the government. However, by removing that stability and infrastructure, a region is created where violent groups could take hold and start operating. This could escalate quickly and turn these regions into mini war zones. The U.S. would probably just use drones to harass and patrol the regions to try and make life for any would be revolutionaries a lot of not fun.

This is all seriously hypothetical bullshit I am making up. But I think the key to any kind of organized "resistance" to the American government, is economic collapse.

...Edit: And remember there was a significant portion of the population which were British Loyalists even in our Super Best War of Great Freedom. Most revolutions are instigated and carried by powerful minorities. If that happens in America it's called domestic terrorism and that revolution will not be televised.
/derail: speaking of minorities, that reminds me of the Philipsburg Proclamation, where the British (growing desperate) declared all slaves free during the War of Independence and 100,000 attempted to flee to them, including one of George Washington's slaves - not that it did most of them much good.

A few made it to London where their plight eventually raised enough sympathy to get them resettled in Sierra Leone.
