It really isnt that far fetched. Some classes like the Wizard would have to be redone to have less spells, but classic version of the Warrior are as cross over as you can get them. If phones can handle Vain, it can sure as hell handle EverQuest Classic.
(and honestly, id play the hell out of it.)

The Russians will sell it off soon enough to someone who may be interesting in making a good game with it. Which will mean a free to play pay to win game like everything else this company will now shit out. I cannot wait to see the hilarity as they will be forced to completely turn H1Z1, Planetside 2, and anything else out there that doesn't get canned immediately, into a phone app microtransaction based PC game.
I wouldn't be surprised if the angel investor behind all this isn't EA so they can see the repercussions this would have on the industry without having to impact their own games (As much)

Wonder if they'll let me buy it? Seriously though... I bet there are people out there that would love to have the rights EQ. Love it, hate it, or given up on it, it has a name and could still be leveraged successful niche game. I would pay to have EQ classic to kick around on. I would pay to bring EQII's PvP glory days back. I know many people probably wouldn't and over time it would only get worse but would hate to see these go...
