Have any of you gotten into the new Ghost in the Shell series? I saw the first episode this morning while eating breakfast before coming into work. I dig. Very "Mission Impossible" style.

Is it different from the OVAs?

So far the first 2 eps are just the 4th OVA cut down to fit TV. They cut out little bits here and there, but its pretty much the same. Its just doing the order backwards, 4th OVA first, and then probably 1-2-3. AFAIK there's going to be one or two episodes at the end that are all new and link into some sort of movie this summer/fall.

So I watched the first 5 minutes of Shokugeki no Soma based on this thread.

I don't know. The episode started off with a protest against the Japanese government for signing an agreement over water or something. People were shouting "Give us our water!"

Then the Ghost group comes in to help investigate. Turns out there are people that are cybernetic, and others that have cybernetic implants. Some hacker figured out a way to hack into the brains of the cyber people and implanted false memories and stuff. Caused a riot to occur where lots of people killed one another. They're trying to figure it out.

A little more happens, but that's the basic idea of the 1st episode.

Ghost in the Shell Arise - Alternative Architecture. That's the name of this series.

100000000000% sure Soma will be the run away hit this season by leaps and bounds.

I agree, but I have no idea why I'm actually watching it since I'm not into those genres. I fault Monday-Thursday for sucking so much I have to grab whatever I can on Friday.

Soma will be on of those I don't bother to keep up with one week and pass completely on the latter half.

Why, you don't like tentacle porn? That show sucks.

I liked the latest episode of Soma. The lead character showing his cocky attitude during his acceptance speech was great. I have high hopes. It's a very fun show.

Aside from that, DanMachi was awesome. That new dagger is the shit. Very much enjoy it.

DanMachi is my unexpected great show winner to start the season. Really cool concept and the characters are all solid.

The season is shaping up to be really strong. It sucks all the shows are packed into the weekend but oh well.

The Uruk feels are so stronk, and its surprising b/c im liking those 2 shows more than UBW which i felt would be the clear winner, but shows like Soma, DanMachi, and Arslan are hitting all the right notes.

Hmm, guess I'll have to check out Arslan now.

This belongs in last season's thread, but its not worth bumping for it. But I was combing that thread the other day looking for ideas to watch, and there were two that seemed to stand out.

Parasyte - Loved it, but I really wasn't expecting so much of the kid going insane / everyone being murdered. Very well done though, just creepier than I was looking for. So I tried the other one, which seemed a little more normal...

Your lie in April - Ow, my feels. Again, very well done, and I really liked the musical numbers, but I just didn't think it was going to be that sad, even if you see it coming the whole time. Two great shows, but both a bit hard on the heart, so I wanted something more nonsensical, crazy, and over the top. Like what Shokugeki no Soma is so far, but with more episodes. And I always heard one show was king of that, but I never saw it before, so...

Gurren Lagann - Yep, that is certainly a thing. I'd heard before "bro power conquers the universe" but thought it was a joke. Exactly what I was looking for though. Still kind of a sad ending, but after watching the above, meh.

Been an interesting week, just though I'd share.

Soma is good and fun. Yeah there is some hints bout sex n stuff, but often in high end cooking food is considered a sensual experience, so the show just link those 2 during the tasting phase (using sex as methapor), which i find very smart. Aside from the result of the tasting, soma is nothing like sex/ecchi show. it has very little fanservice compared to show like dxd, triage or even ange for example. They just riding the thought food=sex, but they dont overdo it, the main thing remain the cooking and the interaction between characters, so its far from being a tentacle porn show.

Speaking of DxD, I had no idea what kind of show it was but decided to watched it because I had nothing to watch during the week. Boobs.

Hints? He force feeds her some squid and all of a sudden there is a full on tentacle rape scene. That's a little more than hints and definitely overdoing it.

You only see "sex" style scenes during any sort of food event. The tentacle rape scene is comical at best. Not at all to be taken seriously. It shows the balance between good food being real sexy and bad food being not at all sexy. But I guess you could focus on that 1 little bit and ignore a great show as a result. Your loss.
