It’s still an A+. Weird Japanese tropes are a part of anime and tons of great authors have had them in any genre or medium. The story is top tier and it reinvented isekai. One cringy and gross aspect of the protagonist doesn’t negate the incredible total package.

Flawed heroes that have human failings, but still rise to the challenge are the best kind.

Since this is not new I figured I'd reply here.

Finally watched the first season of Dandadan, and while it is crazy and whacky as shit, almost too much for me to really think it is great to be honest, it is saved because I absolutely fucking love Momo and her grandma. I'm sure I'm not saying anything you guys probably haven't already, but I love those two and love the way the animation is drawn in the normal scenes. Still not a big fan of whatever it is called where they get the crazy animations, but I'm used to it by now. I'm so tired of the same look on characters that this art style is really refreshing.

The dude I could easily do without, but they make up the difference. Really looking forward to finishing the next season and then any in the future.

Momo is best girl BY FAR in that show. It's a lot to take in, though. Season 2 was very good. I suspect you'll like it because it's a little dialed back.

Honestly, one of the best shows ever in many ways. The creativity is amazing and the author still builds great relationships that are the primary focus, even with all the wild, utterly unpredictable things he throws in week to week. I love not knowing what crazy shit he'll think of next while also watching the relationships grow and evolve. Nothing quite like it and I love that in a world of isekai, shonen, and shojo.

I started watching Frieren cuz I heard it was good. Pretty sure I saw some people praising it here. It's alright so far, but does it get better as it goes along? I just find myself kinda bored so far. I am only a few episodes in though, just at the part where Stark joins.

Frieren isn't a shonen manga that's 100% action at all times. It's a deep story about the passage of time, and how it relates to humanity. Don't really expect more than that.

Might I suggest Zom 100 on Netflix?

It's the story of the hero and his cute elf waifu. Many years after the hero died. There is a lot going on in the story, and most of it isn't action. But when there is action, it is god tier.

I watch How I was Reincarnated as a Slime. So I don't necessarily hate non action lol. It just wasn't catching me yet. I'll give it a few more episodes at least.

Speaking of Slime what a fucking piss awful way to wrap up the shit with Yuuki and Maribel. Absolute garbage writing.

I can have a hard time getting into Animes. I have finished Mashle, Solo Leveling, Slime (not the current season yet), the 3 years it took me to watch One Piece. I was really more of a mech guy. I loved Robotech/Macross. I have watched some Gundam, Patlabor, Appleseed, Neon Genesis, and Big O.
