Correct, Romulus was destroyed in the Prime universe, Vulcan was destroyed in the JJ universe.

Prime universe and Kelvin universe are still JJ universe because they all fall under Paramount / Bad Robot and not CBS. Which is why even though Discovery and Picard are on CBS All Access they still are made by Secret Hideout and exist in the “prime” universe but not the “canon” verse.

It’s all a bunch of shit and stupid and involves licensing and marketing and toys.

It's Prime timeline - Enterprise, Discovery, TOS, TOS Movies, TNG, DS9, TNG Movies, Voy, STOnline.

And Kelvin timeline - JJ Movies

The Kelvin "timeline" was created when Nero (Pissed from the destruction of Romulus and his wife/kids) traveled back in time during the chase that ensured when he was trying to kill Spock in the "fish ship" thing (so technically that ship and red matter exist in BOTH timelines) - the red matter caused an anomaly and they passed through- Nero passed first, and showed up in the past and instantly encountered the USS Kelvin, not knowing they traveled back in time and creating the alternate timeline... so events from "start" to "Kelvin meets Nero" are the same/shared between universes.

There are a bunch YouTube deep dives on this...

But the licenses CBS has, puts them in Prime, not Kelvin... they just... can't (or won't as $ is split) "traditional Prime icons and representations" and that's why Spock looks different, and all TOS crossovers are changed enough...

I haven't read where they are "not" part of the prime timeline- it's just a listening money asshattery

Because if this forum gets a whiff of anything approaching a world view that doesn't conform to "god emperor Trump", they begin to Reeee and thrash about in pain.
This has nothing to do with liking Trump...It has to do with not wanting current politics to be so overt in media. How is this hard? Why do you guys always do this so you can try to make 2+2=5? You ASSIGN motivations to people who have already CLEARLY expressed their actual motivations. "It must not be because Rey is a shit character for clear, easily verifiable reasons you listed, it must be because you hate women! It must not be the hypocrisy of being against race changing in some cases but finding it no big deal in others, it must be because you're racist. It must not be that its TIRESOME that people are so fucking deranged in their hatred about Trump that they need to corrupt entire TV shows with, it must be because you love Trump so much!"

Listen. We're not the ones shoving Trump symbolism into everything, making Anti-Trump TV shows and making it so EVERY fucking late night show talks Trump 24-7, that is these obsessive TDS jerk offs. We're just some shitposters on an internet forum who make Trump memes to troll and wish people would stop using pop media to so overtly push political propaganda (God damn if you're going to do it at least be subtle).

There is one side here that can't control their shit, and its not the internet shit posters who are wary to to even talk about Trump in their real life because of the absolute psychosis that is so bad it has major studios just burning money so they can say 'fuck Trump', okay? Fuck off with this ridiculous projection.

why would the UFoP be dealing with Romulan refugees? don't they have around half the number of planets as the Federation?

Also why would there be a lot of Romulan refugees in the first place? The planet wasn't evacuated.

It was an entire fucking empire, not just one planet. The idea that they wouldn't just set another planet as their capital and send people that lived on Romulus, but were offworld, to one of their other planets is just "wut"

The extent of what the Federation would need to do to help out would to just give them some industrial scale replicators to help with the backlog of replication needs

I'm sure they'll retcon their own retcon to fit whatever story they come up with. As a tangeant i decided to see what would happen to the cloaking ban treaty since that was specifically with the Romulans and this is what it spit out from your favorite source!
In the video game Star Trek Online, set in 2409/10, the Romulan Star Empire collapsed due to the destruction of Romulus. The in-game lore, however, states that the elected president of the United Federation of Planets, Aennik Okeg, proclaimed that the UFP and Starfleet are still bound to the contents of that treaty and all efforts concerning the research and/or developing of cloaking technology have been banned within the UFP
Sounds like STO had a cuck president, maybe the Picard one will be all aboard the cloak train. Also...
Contrary to the games' own lore, Federation players are able to choose from several ships equipped with cloaking technology
Apparently the game retcons itself anyways.

You really believe those lying fucks? The Romulan "Empire" is like one planet and one moon worth of Not Vulcans.

Logical (kek) explanation to the Romulan refugees: Everyone fucking hates the Romulans. If the Romulan power structure crumbled, sure as shit the Klingons would be all over their territories.

We see Bajoran refugees a few times in TNG including their terror cells and the Cardassians trying to wipe them out. Picard replicates everyone at one camp a blanket. Maybe not the most impressive use of a Galaxy class starship's resources but blankets are damned useful. There's some actual canon to draw upon here if the show is really trying to talk about the migrant crisis in Europe.

This is actually a very plausible reason for them to be refugees with nowhere to go

i was very wrong, lots of different numbers floating around, (not counting outposts, forward bases etc) looks like Romulan's only have 7-12 inhabited worlds. Klingons 25-30, Cardassians 30-40, Federation has 150-160 member states

Romulan space lacked a lot of information when it came to the series. Understandably so as their main theme was being mysterious xenophiles

Bajor was one planet. The Romulan Star Empire had many systems under it's control.

There would have to be something else for it to make sense, like a combination of rebellions of enslaved planets and Klingons fucking up Romulan colonies since they lost a good portion of their strength in the supernova.

There's a couple background technology scenes in this video, seems much more casual integration with daily life

There's also some Q&A that was done with people who saw the first three episodes at the premiere event. I'll spoiler the reddit link but the discussion is intentionally a non-spoiler review of how the series will be compared to 90s Trek. The top comment has a good breakdown if you want the cliff notes.
