It's a bit weird that the alternative metals don't provide the same stats when made into items. For example Platinum is better than Gold, Tungsten stronger than Silver etc. The more "new" metals you roll, the stronger your equipement will be, for no specific reason.

Anyway restarted now that I'm not playing FF anymore, figured I'd make a mediumcore char to make it a bit more interesting, changes quite a lot when you have to go back to grab your items naked, made some spare sets out of shitty lower level metals now but the first few deaths were interesting. Still doing random shit atm, I don't really remember much what I was supposed to be doing anyway so mostly exploring until I can make a full set of the most powerful basic metal, which seems to be Gold in my world. After that probably farm stars for mana, explore past the crimson area all the way to the end of the map see if there's a desert biome somewhere, check for the flying islands and dig deeper to reach hell(I've been digging a few screens down then exploring caves, there's a fuckton of them so not progressing super fast towards hell). I really want to find a magic mirror and a double jump item again as so far that's what I'm missing the most.

to me, the game is in low gear till the goblin army attacks, then you save the goblin villager, buy rocket boots, and fly to greatness. after that I'll go anywhere in the world and act a fool

Game turns in to a totally different beast once you get the right mobility items. Having a trio of balloons and some lightning boots just changes everything.

Has anyone been working on an obsidian/honey/crispy honey generator? I've written down a plan I hope to try later today.

Exploiting volume glitch? honey only coming from hives would limit generation alot.

I'm fucking miserable at the actual building aspect of this game, and I feel like it's starting to be a real problem. I have no plant farms that functional, no slime farm, etc, and I'm running out of the most basic resources pretty quickly.

You can generate infinite honey the same way as the other liquids. Here's a pic of my 3 liquid generators (click for full size):

and with wiring shown:

For whatever reason, machines built like this (as well as other variations of the design) keep refilling themselves when you turn on the machine and take out liquid. Use buckets to take what you need and use it for whatever. Just don't drain it too quickly so that it refills itself.

You can also build a generator like this above a huge vat to store liquid in and poke a hole in the generator 1 block below the maximum liquid level. This would infinite generate fluid, which would spill over into a vat to store mass amounts to do whatever you want with it. Create a custom lake of honey right outside your base at ground level, or lakes of lava on a sky island. Whatever you want!

yeah. its duping. Basically, the math on falling liquids allows duping. A bucket or pump will allow filling at 1/3 of a block. and dump 1/2 of a block.

So I beat the Eye of Cthulu and EoW, my next aim should be taking down Skeletron?

Also I have a full set of Shadow and an almost full set of meteorite armor. Meteorite only worth it with the space gun ?

im using meteor armor with my diamond staff, water bolt, and crimson staff. and starfury.

7% magic powerx3.
31damage diamond staff increases to 37 damage with it.
(12% damage on staff,3% and 4% on accessories)

And meteor is 16 defense.

I think its the best magic armor in pre-hardmode. Jungle is the other one. or diamond wizard robe.

Sooo. Question on NPC's:

I had a Small World game I got one of my characters started in and my home easily attracted the first 4 or 5 NPC's as soon as I put the housing requirements in (individual doors, light source, table, chair). However, using the same character on a new Medium world game, I have made a small tower with multiple rooms, all of which meet the requirements, and the only NPC that has moved in is the Guide. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm already at the point where I've been attacked by the Goblin Army.

*Edit: The one difference is the floors of my new house are wood platforms all the way across; can I not do this and get NPC's to move in?

iirc a "home" needs to be at least a 10x6 made of all blocks (no platforms) and have one flat surface (table etc) and one "comfort" item (chair, bed, etc). So yea, it's the platforms that are dicking you.

When you go to the housing UI, can you place the guide's banner into the homes? If so, they are meeting requirements.

It seems like you should be eligible for more NPCs, but you may want to check the wiki and make sure you are meeting their various requirements.

Spent the last like 5hours or so building a gigantic dirt "bridge" to farm stars and find the floating islands, god this shit takes a long time, especially since with my usual luck, I went left first(starting from the center of the map which is where my house is) and there was only one island there, so I had to destroy the whole thing and go the other way to find more floating islands. The good thing is I have a bunch of stars and maxed mana, and I eventually found 4 islands so I got all the floating island unique loot(horseshoe, baloon and starwhatever sword) but fuck it took a long time. Especially removing the fucking blocks once you're done, since I still need meteorites so I can't have my entire world covered by 1block layer of dirt. Also spent a couple of hours in the ice biome to get me a blizzard in a bottle, since the normal cloud one is random as shit and there's no pyramid in my current world so no sand in a bottle.

Next things to do, make a glowing mushroom farm(also dayblooms for ironskin) and start killing some fucking bosses. I'm tempted to mine for an hour or so see if I can find some rubies to make a ruby wand though, I'm using emerald which is ok but ruby would be better. Sadly can't use diamond unless I reroll worlds a few times until I find one with platinum, but I don't have enough diamonds anyway so meh.

Btw have they changed how the bosses are randomly spawned? On the wiki it says the Eye spawns when a player reaches 200health, 10armor, has 3+ NPCs and it hasn't been defeated, and that's a 1 in 3 chance so fairly high. However I've reached those numbers a long time ago and it has yet to randomly spawn. I mean that's fine since I'm not planning to fight him until I'm ready anyway but just curious I remember that shit being common occurence back then.

Gravity potions are a much easier way of finding islands fwiw.
Need fireblossoms to craft, don't last very long so I'd need a large amount. Considering I haven't stepped in hell yet nor killed a single boss, they weren't much of an option. I guess I could have went and farmed some fireblossoms first but I didn't think it'd take that long to run around anyway, forgot that you can't drop/remove blocks even at normal run speed, need to move super slow.

Read that you use potion near dungeons to find floating islands, worked pretty well for me
The Hermes boots seem fairly common. For super speed. If you use those, go to the end of one side of your map, use a gravity potion, take a running start (to where it speeds up) and fly up alternating up and down when you reach the top of the map. If you do it that way, you should only need 2 gravity potions (10 minutes) to clear the entire map and find all sky islands. Speed boost will keep you faster than the Harpes. Just have enough room in inventory to quickly loot everything and take a running jump off the sky island to keep up the speed.

Have killed the worm now and gotten my nightmare pickaxe, but not done anything after that. Guess it is the wall of flesh or whatever it is called. Found the extractinator or whatever it is called. Where you can put slush and silt in it and it converts it to all types of ores and gems, even the ones not in your world. Found a shadow key too, so opened two chests in hell. Flame rose that does 64 damage, quite a bit higher than any other item I have.

When you enter hard mode, does the world respawn, including chests and such, or is it just harder mobs in the old world?

Harder mobs spawn, chests stay the same. Killing wall of flesh gives you the pwnhammer, which is a special hammer that can be used to smash demon altars. Each demon altar you smash in hard mode spawns lots of hardmode ore in your world. More you smash, more ores that spawn for you to mine.

Also when you spawn hardmode a big streak of hallow will spawn in your world, along with a big streak of corruption or crimson. These will also quickly spread and infect bigger and bigger parts of your world unless you take precautions to contain it. Once you kill a hardmode boss, the infection rate slows to a crawl. If you spawn hardmode and ignore the corruption/hallow for a while, and don't kill any bosses, you can find your entire world has been converted to hallow and corrupt before too long.
