this only broke a few days ago, there is no way they could gauge any long term damages to the league from sterlings private conversations. it was a knee jerk reaction in an attempt to make this story go away. thing is its not going to go away and it was a poor decision and sterling knows it.

Wouldnt all Sterling or his lawyer have to say is that his actions up until this leaked confidential conversation were completely fine and not a problem to the league or the general public and conversely he was pursuing the best/financial interest of the NBA? No. That's a very bad argument for many reasons and The financial part isn't relevant to their ability to force the sale of the team. The NBA bylaws give the commissioner broad power to punish for "conduct detrimental to the league" and force a vote by the other owners. "Detrimental" can also refer to the image of the league or really anything Adam Silver wants it to.
Blacks think that punishing this rich honky will change anything. But they still pass a ball around and dribble for our amusement.
