3 hour beer festival is pointless. The lines are going to be huge so you'll probably get 6 4oz beers in 3 hours.

If you go try to find the brewery nobody cares about and just sit there and drink up.

What? I've gotten wasted at every beer festival I've ever been to.

OK so let's say I decide to go (maybe make a weekend of it because: bbq, wine and antique stores in the region - also Giant City State Park - cool place). At the festival - what breweries in that line up seem most interesting...

A number of those are midwest beers which you probably get regularly, but my favorites on that list are:

Ballast Point
Bells
Flying Dog
Founders
Warsteiner
Duvel
Leffe
North Coast (you might not get much of this where you are, highly recommend)
Revolution
Stone

I've honestly never heard of most of them. We don't get too many midwest beers out here in CA.

"6 4oz beers in 3 hours"
4 + 4 = 16 which is equal to one beer. Do you get drunk off of 1 1/2 beers? Lightweight?

Before you change the discussion again, I'll ask a followup I know is coming.

Is every beer festival you've been to 3 hours? Did you time yourself?

I've been to many beer fests and every one I've definitely gotten my money's worth. Usually they're in the 4-5 hour range but three is plenty of time. $35 is a solid price for a three hour event. Usually the only booths with long lines are the super rare tents but you can just go to Stone right next to it and get a beer immediately. I'm sorry you average two beers per hour at a festival. You do it wrong.

You are just repeating what I already said. You are arguing with yourself at this point.

You're wrong kudos. I've gone to more beer fests than I can count and never had an issue drinking my fill. The longest line I've ever waited on at one was maybe 5 minutes long.

Oh, and 6 4oz beer is 24oz. Not that it makes any difference but your math is off. And 4 + 4 = 16?

Wait... how much have you had to drink? Are you at a beer fest RIGHT NOW?!?!

I meant * not +. My mistake. Regardless, 16 oz of beer = 1 pint which is hardly worth it.

The last beer fest I went to was Hunahpu Day and I got 4 lines before the day was done. Had I just gone to unknown breweries it wouldn't have been a problem. Which was my initial statement.

Grabbed one of these to try this weekend and loved it. Went back the next day for more and naturally they were all gone. Seems that about half of Wicked Weed's stuff that shows up here gets gobbled up in quick runs. But as someone who has never liked IPA's I'm starting to get a handle on those I do like. The more citrusy the better and the Juiceless was plenty of that.

Still doing the Cider tour, a friend handed me this, it was pretty good, little on the rich side flavor wise, its very apple pie. I was in a store, saw it, was about to grab one .... $9 a bottle?!?! Too fucking Hipster for my blood.

Yeah, I'd think 9 bucks is about average for a 500-750ml bottle. Hell, maybe a bit under.

I think the most I've ever spent on a bottle though is $25 for

I think I spent $30 once, probably this The Bruery Store | Detail I currently have 8 bottle of stuff from these guys The Bruery Store | Beer Most through my quarterly 'membership'. Looks like the most expensive is The Bruery Store | Detail @ $40.

People spend that much or more on wine so *shrug*

Shared a few with a buddy of mine that he picked up:

Dangerously smooth for 9.25%, nice citrusy hoppiness, not too bitter.

Like a porter and an IPA had a baby. Delicious.

Been a while since I've had a grapefruit sculin to compare, but solid beer. Wouldn't say not to another.

Went to River City casino tonight with my sister - bonus - the Beer house restaurant; they carry some local, regional, national and international on tap. What a pleasant surprise. Had local mostly: Civil Life brown ale, Perrenial Hommel bier, Urban Chestnut Zwickel, Schlafly Oktoberfest and then some others New Holland Oatmeal Stout and Left Hand Milk Stout. Sister hated the Perrenial (too hoppy for her), she loved the Zwickel and Oktoberfest - both were easy to drink. I liked them all for the sake alone that the descriptions actually matched the flavor profiles. I hate when you go and the description and the actual brew are no where near one another.
It was a good night.
