Put me in the group of people totally wrong about launch. They're still not officially launched of course, but after a day of pre-access this is the best MMO launch ever.At this point, I don't care if it's the Hero Engine or if Fischer Price designed it, right now it's running smoother than almost any other MMO I can think of on launch. With tons of people on screen, it's run with nary a hiccup for me. If it is the Hero Engine, Bioware should be ashamed of themselves because the difference in how this runs vs. SWTOR is night and day.
If this hold up for the remainder of the launch window, I don't think I have ever seen someone as totally wrong as Utnayan about a MMO. The proclamations that it wasn't fun I can understand, because fun is subjective, but the gloom and doom about the engine and the server was totally off base.
Everyone assumed problems, because all MMOs have them on launch, but Utnayan proclaimed more than just your standard MMO launch problems. His 'insider' sources proclaimed intrinsic, unfixable problems with the mega server. Thus far, he has been totally wrong.Put me in the group of people totally wrong about launch. I would say hold your horses on that until official launch day. This is the 5 day early access, not 3, or official launch. Reports are (Even though I never experienced it luckily) that quests are still breaking all over the place for folks later in the day yesterday, and with an XP NPC nerf that makes little sense, if you have a character progression quest bug you are fairly screwed. The proclamations that it wasn't fun I can understand, because fun is subjective, but the gloom and doom about the engine and the server was totally off base.
That's why I said so far. Still, I think a pretty large player base is playing now, considering everyone who ordered from Zenimax received the 5 day early access and so many went digital. I have heard a few people with quest trouble but certainly nothing like the beta weekend and certainly inline with most MMO releases.I would say hold your horses on that until official launch day. Let's see what happens after the 4th. But shit * is * breaking. The same quest / phasing bugs we saw before. The PTS never saw the issues either until after server load kicked in.
At this point what does it matter what engine they used? It works very well.It is the hero engine. They did the same thing insisting Skyrim wasn't gamebryo, and surprise, it was gamebryo.
I agree, its just funny is all, I found out yesterday while playing on my desktop and downloading and installing the newest build on my laptop that's where I saw the message about it.At this point what does it matter what engine they used? It works very well.
I think very well sells it short. It's a fantastic engine and does what GW2 still can't do. Which makes it even more frustrating that they had an intern do the animations. At this point what does it matter what engine they used? It works very well.
Good lord yes. I saw some saying they like the animations , and was wondering if I was the only one who thought the combat animations are the worst part of the game.I think very well sells it short. Hmm.. better than Rift's? That was my best one to date.Put me in the group of people totally wrong about launch. They're still not officially launched of course, but after a day of pre-access this is the best MMO launch ever.
