Netflix Could Land Clarkson, Hammond May, Call New Show 'House Of Cars': Video

Last week, we speculated Jeremy Clarkson would land at Netflix-and now we have new info suggesting that's exactly what's going to happen.

The Mirror is reporting that he and co conspirators Richard Hammond and James May-along with former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman-are close to a deal with the streaming service to host their next endeavor. The name is said to be House of Cars, a play on the company's smash hit House of Cards.

Obviously, landing the trio would be a huge win for Netflix.

And while there's no indication of what would be different about the new show, since Netflix isn't bound by broadcast standard, viewers might get to hear their frequent profanity in all its glorious detail, as opposed to the bleeps which punctuated their exchanges on the BBC.

Another potential upshot for fans if the deal goes through? If Netflix follows the formula it has with its other series-and there's no reason to expect it won't-the entire season will be available at once. Who wouldn't want to spend an entire weekend binge watching the three musketeers play with the planet's most desirable vehicles?

For now, Clarkson, Hammond, and May are busying themselves preparing to host their upcoming series of live dates, creatively titled Clarkson, Hammond and May Live!

With the BBC set to begin a new era of Top Gear with a fresh cast, and the knowledge that the old crew isn't quite done yet, it's a good time to be a fan of automotive enthusiast programming. Stay tuned for more info.
thats pretty awesome

Sounds like it's getting pretty close to a done deal.

Top Gears Richard Hammond and James May to refuse £4MILLION return for show with Jeremy Clarkson - Mirror Online

Richard Hammond and James May will turn down a ?4million BBC offer to return to Top Gear ? instead launching a new show with axed Jeremy Clarkson.

A source claimed the trio, along with executive producer Andy Wilman are ?very close? to signing a big-money deal with Netflix and no amount would persuade them to return to the BBC2 show without Clarkson.

The three pals have actually been in talks with several media outlets - including ITV - but the source claimed the American outlet, whose hit shows include House of Cards, was now the favoured option.

The insider said: ?Flattering though it is to be offered huge sums there?ll be no going back. It wouldn?t feel right and their heart wouldn?t be in it.

"They?ve always said they come as a team and that hasn?t changed.

?They are all very excited at the prospect of having total editorial control over their new show, to make it and get it distributed.

"It would be groundbreaking and also incredible lucrative. They would stand to earn much, much more than they would with the BBC."

A BBC source denied earlier claims Hammond, 45, and May, 52, were offered ?9.1million, saying it was nearer ?4million for a two-year deal.

This week the pair shot studio scenes for two Top Gear films, made before Clarkson?s contract was not renewed after a fracas with producer Oisin Tymon.

The two episodes will be screened within weeks.

After that fans must wait until next year at the earliest for a new series as bosses? hopes of reuniting May, Hammond and The Stig fall flat.

A source close to the project said: ?Clarkson had his faults but his *importance to the show cannot be understated.

"He wrote it, came up with ideas and was its heart. It will need about three or four good operators to replace him.

?The amount of work required to get Top Gear back on the road again is just sinking in amongst executives. It is a huge task.

?Richard and James could make it work as a duo - but the idea of different guest presenters every week is seen as a non-starter.

?They?ve been sounded out to return - but if, as expected Richard and James turn the offer down, then Top Gear will have to be re-invented - undergoing a total re-boot and re-branding."

The BBC and the former Top Gear team did not comment.

The idea of them being in a medium where they don't have to worry about as short an "apologize to that group you just offended" leash intrigues me.....

Saw an ad tonight:

"Coming soon - New episodes!!"

With on location footage with Clarkson, May and Hammond that all looked new to me.

Certainly the left over remains of the season, to be show with zero studio stuff

They were talking about doing a special or something that includes the last 2 episodes that were filmed before the show was stopped early last season. Maybe the commercial is for those 2 missing episodes?

i think may and hammond were contractually obligated to host those two shows and the coming dvd. after that, they are free to do whatever and the BBC is free to go fuck themselves.

I think that Chris Evans will be great, he is a lot less obnoxious now then he was 10 years ago.

This is still going to be a hilarious train wreck as they get no traction with new hosts and Netflix does the version both Clarkson and the audience actually want to see.

The BBC has announced that Top Gear will return to UK telly screens soon, with an extended episode to wrap up Series 22.

Featuring a pair of previously unseen films shot for the most recent series, plus studio links from Richard and James, the one-off will air on BBC Two on a date soon to be confirmed.

No mention of the three cars doing lap times unless they're somehow managing to keep that super hush hush. Maybe the gents will be able to pull that off in the new series, but by that point the new Koenigsegg will be the biggest beastmode car out there. Well it probably already is, but beside the point.

that three hypercar showdown went down the tubes the minute jeremy got fired. it likely will never happen on the new show either. and i doubt the scabs at the new top gear will have any clout to arrange any damned thing. just have to accept that it never happens and if by some miracle it does and Mr Binladen in SA gives his permission to the netflix show then its a miracle from allah.

The Porsche proudly accounced their best Nurburgring time at 6m57s.
Porsche 918 Spyder Tops Global Debut with New Nurburgring Record

McLaren accounced their best lap of "under 7 minutes" which leads me to believe the Porsche marginally beat it or else they would have announced their exact time for the record. Absolutely respectable though and at least they had the balls to run it and compete.

Ferarri are still being the biggest vaginas about their car. Absolutely refuse any competitive testing vs Porsche and McLaren. (One has to assume it can't put up the numbers and most likely above 7 minutes)

Damn shame the Top Gear test track showdown never happened. How often is it that you get hypercars of this caliber all at once?
