I enjoyed the movie for what it was, but I don't hold the LotR nearly as sacred as most of you seem to.

My preciousss...

"Reports have emerged that Warner Brothers is to countersue the estate of late Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien for standing in the way of a million-dollar licensing deal with a casino gaming company to produce Hobbit-branded one-armed bandits... Warner suggests that the lack of branded slot machines in casinos and arcades, along with online games, damaged the profitability of the first film in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which debuted in December. The 3D fantasy adventure has so far made $1.01bn (?675m) across the globe and currently stands as the 14th highest-grossing film of all time"

Usually Fed Ex Smartpost takes twice as long as normal.

Quickly scrolling past that picture I could've sworn Gandalf was brandishing an AK.

Just got around to watching this. I liked it in theory, but it felt flabby. It needed better pacing and less obviously-for-children elements (yes, I realize The Hobbit was aimed at a younger crowd, but kids loved the LotR movies). The Goblin King was especially gratuitous.

Dragon looks stupid (at least, his head does). He looks eerily similar to Godzilla from that awful Matthew Broderick movie.
