It was good, maybe 8/10......length was an issue.

A couple of random thoughts that might not get mentioned.

Jim Norton doing Don Rickles was excellent! He had maybe 15 seconds of screen time but nailed Rickles mannerisms.

Once again the unsung hero of a Scorese film is his longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker. If you don't know her work, check out the wiki page...she's a legend.

I remember getting into a private media/liberal arts/broadcasting school and when I said I wanted to be an editor I got told thats for bitches, are you a bitch? Try something more manly.

And I didn't believe it but its true. all the editors are women in Hollywood.

yea, wasn't Lucas' editor his wife/ex-wife, and the only reason Star Wars made sense?

I hear Jim Norton was in this. He played Don Rickles. Don't know if he made the final cut, though.

I might watch it.

I saw it on the list, looked at Scorsese + the synopsis, saw DeNiro and Peschi... and thought "Do I want to watch the new casino?" Maybe. Maybe I do.

Gotta be in the mood for that kind of movie I think. I expect it to be good. Seems like it is, if you're in the mood.

Its more biopic, historical accounting I think than a Casino or those types of movies.

Just the vibe I got from watching the final 70 minutes.

it seems like its more about memorializing an era, and an event in history.

Movie should have been cut in half and tightened up.

Way too long.. felt tired, probably due to having the majority of the main cast be all nearing 80. It made all of the supposedly dangerous mafia people seem kind of silly.. The scene where de niro beats up the shop owner was bad... de niro is so old and stiff that he can hardly move, which made the scene completely ridiculous. Wasn't a bad movie, just made 30 years too late. Or should have been done with a more agile cast. And definitely felt too long.. several times I paused to see how much longer there was to go.

I did appreciate the camera work and editing.. lots of good long shots - proper film making.

That scene with the shopkeeper and his daughter was dire, I'm surprised they didn't get a stand in for the scene and do some post-production to blend it.

It's noticeably weird and clunky.

Movie was alright. It doesn't do much to keep you engaged though. I consider movies like this to be 'afternoon movies' where you pop it on on a weekend afternoon and have it on while doing other stuff.

Was alright, watched with mrs Izo. Intermission netflix and chill might have biased me to a 9/10.
Was looking forward to the JH kill scene. Not dissapointed, glad they made it simple, and went with the friendship-obligation-conscience angles instead. Alphas protecting their families, making a life for them, but at what cost, interpersonal relationships. Solid movie.

Watched it, Meh, DeNiro and Pacino are both well past their prime and probably should have retired by now, old age gets everyone, I never it would fuck up acting too, but it seems to. Scorsese managed to pull off his signature cinematography. But was missing his usual hits of the era sound track. It was kinda like watching the Motley Crue farewell tour and knowing exactly why they were packing it in. Best days are gone, leave your legacy alone before you ruin it. Also they didnt touch on nearly any of the stuff that Sheeran did that was probably tied to the JFK assassination. The David Ferrie guns for Castro scene made me think they would show that side arc as well.

Share the sentiment mostly - good but not great. I also felt like it was at times pointless. Frank enters the story as an empty void and stays that way. As the central character, he was no Henry Hill.

It was only the end where I felt there was some meat to him, where he is realizing what this life left him with. With all the callouts to the various murders, the abandonment of his kids, his betrayal of hoffa, and the loneliness of Frank's life at end, this is one of the least glorifying gangster movies. I wish it had focused a little more on this nihilistic aspect.

I watched this last night. It's not the best mob movie ever, but it's good. It was nice to see Stephen Graham in the movie. He's typed cast for me now since his Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire was so amazing. I'm not sure why some people elsewhere are complaining about Anna Paquin's role in the movie. It's obvious why she doesn't have that many lines.

Biggest complaint im getting is that its a little dry, lacks punch n pizazz especially because of the dragging second half.

Was it worth assembling this cast? And is it worth the buzz surrounding the movie? Awards? etc.
