I agree that if Luke is brought in, it will be a S3 deal. Mando isn't taking place that long after RoTJ, so Luke wouldn't be a hermit drinking blue milk yet and would be actively trying to get more info on the Jedi and starting to gear up for resurrecting the order.

Don't hold your breath on Luke Skywalker or Mark Hamel ever showing up. Disney fucking hates Mark and blame him for turning the fanbase against their shit movies. Bringing him into the Mando story would make them face the fact that they incompetently ruined his character.

Filoni and Favreau could probably un-fuck Disney's Luke sequel-story, but it would be a tall task. They will probably just keep pulling from the expanded universe for characters, which is for the best.

He is the only logical choice, though. Thawn being sought probably boils down to 2 reasons: He has Ezra, or she suspects his involvement with rebuilding the Empire. I could see her being more passionate about trying to find Ezra. Having Luke show up would work well since this show has a much stronger link to the OG trilogy over all and lets them world build all the stuff that was talked about, but never really shown, in the new trilogy.

It also makes for a cool Boba v Luke rematch

Leaning on Thrawn as the driving force behind rebuilding the Empire / First Order could work well. Would also give them a somewhat simple path to segway into either into exploring the time frame before the sequel trilogy some more oooooor.... a retelling of the original Thrawn book trilogy. Which could work.

Great episode. Really liked the samurai vibe. You always see Jedi tackle things head on in the movies and this was a good change of pace to see a Jedi going stealth mode.

They should just bring up some obscure Jedi to build a new story and fuck off with all these big names over-shadowing the main character.
it kind of makes it hard when theyve told us repeatedly that all the jedi are dead except a few. if they keep saying "well this one survived, oh and that one and this one over here, it starts to get a little ridiculous. i mean the idea that Luke was living on Vader's home planet and using his own name, Skywalker is a whole nother level of silly, but you gotta just forgive Lucas's writing sometimes if you want to still enjoy the films.

Would be funny if they went with a Thrawn re-telling...

...and explained away the other Luuke milk-drinker as just a clone-- and that the sequel trilogy is just a story about clones that got blown way out of proportion by the canon.

Would be the ultimate fuck you to everyone associated, and would require a top-to-bottom house-cleaning at Lucas Film to pull that off though.

Using clones to throw away the sequel trilogy would be about the laziest most disrespectful thing they could possibly do. It'd probably irreparably fracture the fandom. If Filoni really sells the Thrawn storyline and clone angles, he might be able to sneak it by them.

Since they are playing with Thrawn, if they go with Legends canon, the clone angle is in arms reach.

All I want them to do is say "yeah Rebels season 4 already retconned the sequels. Retconned them before Kennedy's Episode 9 was even made" for that extra bit of fuck you.

Star Wars is only Star Wars when it is a story of fathers and sons. That’s why everything after the OT, until now, has felt off.

It feels distinctly like the people in charge of this production understand this truth.

Kinda hoping they bring in Quinlan Vos. Stay away from Luke and the more well known characters IMO. Who would play Vos? Who knows. But he is a Jedi Master that seemed to vanishb(but survive) after order 66, has danced around falling to the dark side so he knows what would be at risk with Grogu. Would be the perfect pick IMO
