I couldn't get past the first episode of season 3. I think they waited way to long for it to come out and a I lost interest.

Yeah, I get the parallels, but there is a big difference between Data learning about human emotion or warring aliens learning they have common ground, and the ham fisted shit this is. We're what, 6 episodes in and 2 of them have dealt with suicide, this last one child suicide? And yeah, 70 minutes of why a 12 year old should be able to get a sex change, even when their family isn't supportive., set to uplifting music and with the big resolution that NOW everything is great and the future looks like someday they will captain their own starship... Just a bullshit Disney princess fantasy. Watch this episode and then go back a season and watch the episode where Bortis gets addicted to Holodeck porn and starts getting into weirder and weirder shit. Moral shit there too, but delivered MUCH better as entertainment.

I saw this as more of the parents forcing a sex change on the child and showing that it was wrong cuz it fucked up the child more and was only happy when back to it's true sex. You know a parallel to real parents that do that shit now like making boys wear dresses and shit and putting kids on puberty blockers.
Also these were both continuing stories from previous seasons. The Isaac suicide was less about suicide itself and more about the hate aimed his way and how people said the stupid shit that caused it.

Yeah. Trek has always been woke shit. No surprise that an homage show would also tackle that stuff. Also i like the 60-70 minute episode times this season. Episodes are more fleshed out.

The outcome of the last episode didn’t sit well with me
The one episode where people come from the future and say “you died in our timeline”, but changed it, gets hand waved away as “well it’s not our future so fuck your timeline”
Then they fuck Gordon over by essentially erasing his family from history
Although there was one possible oversight. Gordon sent the message 6 months after he arrived, but then they later grab him one month after. That creates a paradox, because now Gordon could have never sent them the message that brought them back.
Assuming they later address that, that means that there may be multiple timelines or they are doing some MCU level timeline shit

I disagree, while they did wait to long, It took all of about 5 min to get back into this. The first 4 eps have been fantastic, miles better than anything Star Trek in the past 10 years, not that that's hard but still. glad to have The Orville back.

They do be trying to weave too many stories into a single episode at this point. Standard for 90s-era TRek was A story and B story with possible C story as part of a slow burn character thing. In almost all cases the stories would intersect in some meaningful way.
This most recent episode had :
1) Kaylon History
2) Kaylon gaining emotions due to reprogramming their 'pain' chip
3) Doctor and Isaac relationship
4) Charlie / Isaac evolution
5) Engineer and Security sex (comedy relief)
6) Space Amazons who hate men (with auxiliary comedy relief)
The first four would have been a natural progression for a singular episode but instead you get the other two tacked on and pad the runtime by 20+ minutes.
