At the very minimum, it should be illegal for someone to require payment by check. Fuck that shit, as soon as there was any other method of payment available checks should have ended. This backward ass town I live in has places that will only take a check. Or they charge YOU the 3% to use a credit card. When we moved here I cancelled my American Express as no one would accept it, so there was no reason to keep paying for it. I can get behind ending checks though. When we moved here we got some cute checks my wife liked (M&M's I think), we have not used more than 1 group of them , I think there are like 20 to a group? and we moved here 11 years ago.

My mom wrote a check for one of the kids in a christmas card. Like, hourly wage speaking, it's not worth my time going to the bank for even 10x the amount she wrote. The apps don't work because it's the kiddos name on it. Who still does that?

Who is requiring checks as payment? There was one time in my life when I had someone who would not take cash as payment. That was a city and I was trying to pay a traffic fine. They wouldn't take personal checks either though, I had to get a money order I think. But you're fulloshit checks are better than credit cards unless you're in the pocket of the big banks. I love it when a business lets me save another 3-6% by not paying with a credit card. The businesses that don't have discounts for cash/check are charging everyone that extra fee. Retailers get charged fees with debit cards too, but it's usually a per transaction fee instead of a %. The worst is the fake credit cards (debit cards with a visa or MC logo) because the retailers will often get charged both the credit and the debit fees.

In part of my never ending cascade of side quest hobbies... I am now also Haus - Beginner tier candlemaker.
All this started when my wife's favorite candle scent (Pumpkin Souffle from Anthropologie) was cancelled, so I wanted to see if i could recreate it. Since I already had wax melting stuff for lost wax metal casting (another hobby). That was easy....
But I think now that tinkering with scents from the candle place I have perfectly recreated "leather bound book library" in a candle, and I am unduly proud of myself for this accomplishment.
