it doesn't take much of a hit. friend was moving stuff and another guy lost grip on a piece of the bed frame. it hit him on the side of the head above the ear. he saw stars, but didn't go out and wasn't even a cut. day or so later got a massive headache went to hospital. his head looked like a baseball after the surgery.

comedian larry miller, slipped on the side walk, hit his head, was in a coma for nearly a month. iirc, he said they took the top of skull off.

That's why you are supposed to be checked when you hit your head. You think you're okay but then your brain swells and a few hours later you fall over dead. Same thing happened to Liam Neeson's wife after a skiing accident.

Ya, subdural hematomas are no joke. Doesn’t take a whole lot for them to happen, especially if you’re on some manner of blood thinner
