Yeah, if you find some pics of her when she was younger, before going full baldie she was quite attractive. Great voice. Absolutely batshit though. She must have been diddled a lot to end up like that. She's one of those people who make you wonder what sort of person they could have become had life not taken a massive dump on them from the day they were born. But on the flip side, if she'd had a normal life, maybe she would never have done anything special with it...

In retrospect, her stunt with ripping up the picture of the Pope (which tanked her career for a time) was just badly timed. If that was done a number of years later, after all the revelations about the abuse by clergy and coverup by the Vatican/Bishops had come to light, she probably would have been applauded instead.

By that time I didn't really care about the pope, I didn't see the point of something like that and it just made her look like an unhinged nut. There is artistic crazy which can be wonderful and then there is just that crazy you see on the streets of Manhattan which instinct tells you to get the fuck away from. I didn't want her to go away, but as you said, her career ended that night on SNL.
