how does the online ad world work in 2013? The no-porn-for lurkers makes sense, since its really to not allow googlebot to see porn images and not really lurkers. But then aren't you hurting yourself by not allowing a lot of lurkers to factor into views/clicks for ads? I don't get the registration thing at all, ads don't care if someone is registered on reroll or not, they have their own cookies to track that shit across the web - which is why I keep seeing papa john ads now since I ordered a pizza last weekend.

it used to be that you wanted tons of eyeballs and people to click on ads, is that still true or is the online ad world a lot different? are ads really able to pay for rerolled server/bandwidth or is it costing you a ton more than the ads are bringing in?
It's really not complex, google bots seeing SS/RR = no ads = no website.

Unless you know an advertisement/marketing firm that will give a good rated contract for traffic, porn friendly ads are 4-6 times less than google ads on average.
"Less than google" doesn't necessarily mean negative roi though... As long as the ads bring more revenue than the pageviews are costing, then aren't the views worth having? With the way you guys talk about this, you'd think it would be impossible for a porn site to make money, but clearly that isn't the case. Also, have you considered affiliate and CPA offers? I'm sure that plenty of those could give two shits about the traffic source since all they care about (and pay on) is conversions. It's understandable if it's just too much trouble for you to bother with, I mean, tossing up some adsense and forgetting about it is the easy way to go, but if you're actually trying to pull revenue out of the site, I can't believe that killing off traffic is helping to reach that goal.

I don't know what Draegan's intent is with the site. I assume he just views the ads as a way to pay for the site so the considerable expense isn't coming out of his pocket. If this move helps that happen, then so be it. I'm sure a porn site could manage to pull off a profit, but I am pretty sure also that any site offering up a selection of free images without actually being a "porn" site will have difficulties in making ends meet. I definitely don't want the site to turn into a porn site, and yet I don't want to lose the titties. I'm in a glass case of emotion.

Couldn't there just be separate SFW and NSFW screenshot areas?
Doesn't that defeat the purpose? It isn't as if the traffic in question was being generated by someone posting old EQ screenshots from Velious. The good work done by brave young men such as Wolfen and Fedor is the source of that, and I think we all know it.

Wish it could have been based on donations instead of post count. I donated when rerolled.org first went up, but I'm a professional lurker. I do make it a point to occasionally click on ads, if its remotely interesting.

It's cathartic to see that with all this chat about ad rev and numbers and such there are no shitty graphs being posted.

You guys should change "See comments/suggestions" to "Seethis thread".

I know that sounds kind of stupidly obvious, but it makes it stick out more. I've had referral links several times before, and you'd be surprised how much adding something derpishly simple as "click here" improved results.
You can not create links in forum titles. It's text only.

Affiliates and CPAs: That's what we are running now since google saw some titties. Revenue generated by those ads is at best 20-30% of google ads. If I wanted to maximize revenue, there are a ton of annoying things we can do. Giant popup ads that come up when you come to the site where you have to click "Continue to Rerolled.org". I can put advertisement after every 5 posts and if you don't want to see those you have to subscribe to Rerolled.org for $5/mo. I can shrink the forums to a certain width and put a nice siteskin on the forum too.

I know some of you think that putting the porn behind a wall is all of the sudden going to kill the community because a few people that saw a picture of a unicorn fucking a vampire suddenly wanted to contribute won't stick around now. But it's really not. The majority of the people on this site read a lot of the other sections of this forum.

Regarding Porn sites: Most porn sites require a subscription to access content. Others just host videos ripped from the internet and allow users to upload content. They also have actual porn advertisement which probably makes more money than other affiliate programs. I do not want to put porn ads on Rerolled because then the whole site becomes NSFW and then no one can see it at work.

IMHO posting 5 times is less difficult than living in a bubble ...
Every one who played to bubble bobble knows that you can't even touch a bubble without blowing it, so living inside ... !

And sorry for my poor english, I'm doing my best (or less some will say).

When did I say I don't want input? If I didn't want input I wouldn't of wasted my time typing all those words to you.
