Without playing it, it looks fun. The art/design and humor all seem to blend well together.

But that's looks alone, the other 90% of me will make a decision once I play for myself.

Yeah. They go on and on about rest experience, and "layered content" which offers experience rewards, and how the "path" system lets you play your way for experience....But they are still designing their game around the fact that experience is of limited usefulness. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but that does look like it's copies from WoW's method of level being the determining factor behind your power, rather than a soft idea of your characters power.

The hard max level systems in MMO's really need to go--Soft caps, with heavy diminishing returns vs other soft caps is a way to keep experience an important currency in game. But I guess it's more difficult to design like that.

Well it IS a WoW-style game, and they're making no secret of that. I expect evolutions from it and not revolutions.

Yeah, I really wasn't surprised by that. This has been a Level 1-Max then do stuff type of game from the very beginning.

I think MMO players are going to have to realize that the perfect game for them isn't going to be made. There are things in this game that I do not like and I wish I could change. I'm just going to enjoy the game for what it is. It's isn't like they are trying to hide what this game is and it's style.

He means you can't please all of the people all of the time. Which of course is true, and it's funny the game so many mmo nerds hold up as the golden child didn't even conform to what people want. It literally pissed in your face and said this is what you get, enjoy it or not, we don't give a shit.

They have talked about "choice mattering" and not being able to talk to the other faction. Fuck that, you just cut off half the people I can play with. Lore be damned.

I'm going to miss the de-leveling system of GW2, though I'm just assuming that won't be in this.

I understand the trinity and why people like it, I just wished that every class had the ability to be Dps, Tank, Healer. Not all at once, but be able to spec into it.

Nothing brought new to the table as far as your standard leveling system.

Don't want to see question marks and exclamation points. Anything but that. Just change the icon to something different.

I heard in a interview about caster types having to stand still to cast abilities. Unconfirmed as of now, but that IMO takes away a lot of the action.

PVP servers have rules that are basically copy and pasted from WoW. I want flagged all the time no matter what.

Just really comes down to personal preference. I love the dodge mechanic in these new MMO's, while some people hate it. That's why I don't get that worked up about announced features and such. MMO players simply don't agree on a damn thing and it's down right stupid to think someone will make a game with all the features you want.

I pretty much agree with all of that. Not being able to talk to the other faction is retarded for one.

As far as moving and casting, I think that there will be some abilities you can cast and move and some you can't. I thought I saw some kind of channeled spell being used while moving.

I understood what Draegan was asking. Didn't seem like he was being defensive to me. /shrug. Guess I'm just being a kiss ass or something.

Split factions and player segregation is the single worst feature that WoW standardized for the genre, I'm pretty disappointed that this game is going to have it too.

Has there been any word on the other classes? None of the announced 4 click with me at all.

No word. But you could speculate they would be a Ranged Dps/Tank combo and a Melee Dps/Healer combo. Whatever that means.

Yeah, and that's fine--but as more information has come out, it seems like they are developing systems that all rely on leveling as the carrot. Every reward they can't think of something better for, is rest experience. And that currency becomes devalued quickly in this type of game--it just seems like it might be another flashy game that's amazing for 3 months and then everyone is back here wondering where it all went wrong.

Edit: And don't get me wrong, despite the fact that I dislike the art style, I think the game has amazing promise....I just wish designers would stop spending so much time on leveling shit, while simultaneously choosing a "hard cap" system that quickly obsoletes it all. It just seems like such a poor return on time investment to have two major systems that do not mix. (And that's all given that a strong leveling experience is an important hook for buzz/marketing.)

Split faction is just plain stupid. It doubles the workload for content generation unless you continually rejigger reasons why the two opposing sides are hanging out in the same place doing the same thing but still mortal enemies.
