I remember some all day AV's. There was just this laundry list of things your team could do to try and ruin the other guy's day. The best was when both sides were in an arms race to try and summon their boss, send out riders and bombers and all the other stuff. I remember watching the giant snowman and scarecrow trading blows in the big flat area in the center of the map with a bunch of ram riders and wolf riders swarming around.
People were getting ganked as they stopped and gawked at this titanic clash. The need to win and bring the battleground to a resolution every time you logged on never made sense. Killing the enemy commander was a rarity and it felt all the more awesome when it did happen because of that.
But everyone wants to be a winner I guess. Personally, I enjoy the foot slogging, dug in, brutal fighting 1000x more than a stupid battle report and honor points popping up every 10 minutes. Winning or losing is for winners and losers, I'll take murder, bloodshed and carnage as my reward. Of course it's nice when it serves a purpose...
