Teenagers and children have parents.
Who do you think spends more money on games? Children and Teenagers that have to go through their parents or adults who's hobby is gaming and decide themselves whether they want to buy something? I hope your trolling and not intentionally being stupid.

Yes, and in America teenagers and children dutifully gather money in the wilderness to spend on said prepaid visas. Because you know... money grows on trees.

I can't believe Australians wouldn't know that.

I understand not everyone grows up in middle class homes and may not be aware that children are often given said cards as gifts on special occasions. Take some time to let that sink in.

You are clearly some privileged goon because I've had a fucking job since I was 15... and before that my income was at least $10-20a week which I spent almost exclusively on GUESS WHAT? Video games.

LOL, good god! I would think we were discussing buying a fucking car not some minor cash shop expenditures! There are plenty of little shits whose parents will give them anything so they don't feel 'poor' and shunned. There are plenty of mid twenties gamers still living at home who also have some decent disposable available as well. The only known demographic this game is trying to woo is WoW gamers from the past 1-8 years. That's a pretty varied group so lets try to get back on track?

It's not a matter of whether or not teens spend money it is a matter of who would spend more. Adults would spend a fuck load more on games then teens would. The average age of gamers is around 30 and yet you guys seem to think a bunch of teenagers are buying all these fucken games every month.. Some of you guys are really fucken stupid. Or maybe it's just Quaid.

Lol I guess because you did it it must be that way for the whole industry. By the way you had a shitty teen life. Spent all your money on games? Can you film your mid-life crisis for us all so we can have a good laugh?

And I suppose you did what? Spend your money on Vic bitter and hookers? I partied in college like a normal human.

Also, the fact that you place any importance at all on your teen years as to the quality of one's life is pretty telling as to the kind of person you are. Mid life crisis because I spent my teen years gaming? You've gotta be kidding me, right? Were your glory days in high school you sad little man? Lol.

LMAO. I certainly didn't spend my money "exclusively on games." I feel sorry for you really..I also don't know why you keep trying to throw Australian stereo-types at me? Are you that much of a child? You really need to work on your insults.

Yup, ignore the word 'almost' in my quote. good job.

I also spent money on all the normal kid shit... Clothes, going to the movies, an occasional 40 of something cheap. But ya, almost all my discretionary income (which was a good portion of it) went to games. Bought my own consoles, bought and rented discs, computer hardware upgrades, EQ sub, etc etc.

Either way, many of my friends did the same thing I did. It was very uncommon in my 15-19 year old peer group to not have a job, and to not spend our earnings on whatever bullshit we wanted. Including my EQ sub, hardware purchases, game rentals and hardware purchases, I'd have to estimate I spent anywhere between $100-200 a month on gaming. Show me an adult (who isn't very well off) that would even think of doing something that retarded.

Wtf is to feel sorry for? I did very well in school, was quite well liked, had a steady friend group, a steady job that was decent for a teen (worked shipping and recieving at a Nike store. $2 above minimum wage and free kicks. sup?) two pretty long term girlfriends in HS... And a hobby I loved that I spent money on. I even had enough money left over when I was 19 to buy myself a shitty used '97 Sunfire... Life was pretty good for a kid.

Aussie stereotypes? I fucking love Vic bitter... It wasn't an insult

So you truly believe that teens spend the most on games? I honestly don't even know how you could believe that.

That's a study on MOBILE gaming. Where you would assume if the teens were spending more then adults it would be there but it's not. You are simply wrong. Even 35-54 year olds are spending more money then teens.

Again, I'm not sure what your point is here... You consistently fail to understand basic marketing principles at every turn. Just because one demographic group spends the 'most' money, doesn't mean a company will tailor their product to target said group.

For example, Pokemon. The content and marketing materials are clearly aimed at children. By your logic, the mere existence of a demographic group that spends more money dictates that the developers of the Pokemon franchise should target 30 year olds. Why wouldn't they? They spend the most money!

The goal is to extract the most revenue from a particular market segment, the one that your product is tailored to.

I'm not failing to understand anything. We are talking about Wildstar not marketing in general. First you implied that due to the look and feel of Wildstar it was a game aimed at teens. I countered that the look and feel was no indication of who the game was marketed too. I also saidIFage had any bearing what so ever they'd be going for people with disposable income. You then implied that teenagers spend more money on games then adults do. To which I have proven is incorrect.

Long story short. Just because Wildstar looks and feels a certain way to you doesn't mean it's aimed towards teens. Also it doesn't make you immature if you enjoy their videos.

Also, hold the fuck up. Can you find a quote where I said this? You illiterate nincompoop.
Ohhh the good old spend 5 post implying something but never actually saying it. Then someone asks if you actually believe what you've been implying, you ask for a quote. Oldest trick in the book.

Cool, quote the implication then... Cuz I certainly don't see ANYWHERE where I 'imply' teenagers have more income, disposable or otherwise, than adults.

And yes, Wildstar is an MMO with an atmosphere targeting teens and very young adults. You'd have to be a retard to not see it. Don't be butthurt just because it appeals to you. Hell, I play plenty of kiddie games because they're fun.

Also, the age brackets on that graph are fucked. 13-17? That's not a meaningful metric at all. Redo that graph with the first age bracket being 15-20 (young people, likely with jobs, still living at home in a majority of cases) and I bet the results will be quite different.

Edit: well... Actually... I certainly had more money to spend on games back in the day. I'm probably down to $25/month or less these days. But that doesn't include hardware upgrades, which at $1500 every 3 years, works out to another $40/month or so.

Wildstar is not targeting teens and young adults. Don't be fucking stupid. They are targeting an audience that has spent the last decade playing World of Warcraft which happens to be the largest MMORPG ever created. That includes, basically, almost everyone.
