Blizzard Entertainment is excited to announce Jessica Martinez as our first Vice President, Head of Culture. This comes as part of our ongoing initiative to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture where people at every level can learn, grow, and bring their most creative selves to their work.

Jessica and the Blizzard leadership team will be responsible for growing and implementing our culture strategy, ensuring alignment across all teams and functions, and revamping learning and talent development programs. Excited to champion change within the gaming industry, Jessica says “When you create a people-first environment where teams feel safe, valued, and work together toward a shared purpose, everyone thrives–the employees, the players, and the business.” To help achieve this, Jessica will lead the learning and development team, while working closely with communications, events, and each of the franchise and functional leaders.

Jessica joins Blizzard after more than 14 years leading strategy, communications, operations and employee experience at the Walt Disney Company, where she served as Chief of Staff and key strategic advisor to both the Chief Security Officer and the Chief Technology & Digital Officer for Disney Parks & Resorts. Beyond spearheading fundamental organizational change including leading the security integration for the 21st Century Fox acquisition, Jessica was best known for creating a values-driven culture that connected global teams and celebrated diversity.

Jessica is also an avid skier, an active supporter of animal rescues, and a Little League Baseball Coach.

Welcome to the team, Jessica!

Here's other new gay shit: World of Warcraft News and Raiding Strategies - MMO-Champion

Social credit system INCOMING

Social Contract

Hail, traveler, and welcome to the World of Warcraft!

Azeroth is a living world full of people like you - other players with different backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and histories who have all come together to play World of Warcraft.

Every player deserves to have a world that they feel safe in, so please take a minute to read our Social Contract.

While in Azeroth, do your best to:

  • Connect with other players and make friends! Being courteous in group content can help you and your teammates have the best time possible. Sending a friendly hello message can help set your group up for success.
  • Play as a team with your fellow players - whether in dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, arenas, or out questing in the world. Do your best to support your team through your communication and behaviors so that you can all celebrate your success together.
  • Assist other players that you encounter in the world. Maybe they need some help defeating a tough monster, or maybe they could use a little healing!
  • Help answer questions others have in chat channels like General or Trade. We were all newbies once - one person offering some help can go a long way!

We recognize that the Internet is not always a safe haven. With that in mind, please note that the following behaviors are not accepted in Azeroth:

  • Hate speech, including negative comments that target another player's identity, including aspects like race, gender, or ability
  • Harassment, threats, or abusive / derogatory language and behaviors
  • Spamming, advertising, or other disruptive behaviors

If you harm your fellow adventurers with any of the above behaviors, you are subject to punishment up to and including suspension of your account.

It's a big world out there, with all sorts of people in it. So please try to be respectful of each other, and if you ever feel like somebody is acting against this code, please report those behaviors so that our team can look into it. Together, you can help us make the World of Warcraft a safe home away from home for everyone.

The shitters are going to weaponize this. Trolls are going to shit up runs so they can report people who bitch. By trying to lower toxicity they are going to amplify it.

Ability in that context might not mean "git gud n00b". In the context of that TOS language, it is probably referring to disabilities a person may have

I'd bet they're trying to move to a general "TOS" more like the FF14 one. So in this case, very unlikely to be actual disabilities. The FF14 players have internalized being "nice" over close to a decade- where as the wow players have cultivated toxicity over the years. So yeah, Arbitrary likely has the right idea here. Enforcing that on the WoW playerbase is gonna be hilarious.

If someone says they are playing with a controller in my mythic+ group, is that a disability that would let me kick them?

Instead of fixing game design and what is essentially match making, they just want to ignore/punish the discontent.

It's a game. They should actually make a social credit score and place nice people with nice people and toxic people with toxic people. Make it transparent how it works.

Otherwise it's going to be tranny CMs and tranny programmed bots banning people they don't like.

Maybe if the game mechanics reinforced the idea of everyone play together regardless of a Ability and have fun the game wouldn’t be the steaming pile of shit that it is.

typical modern liberal view from blizzard though, don’t fix any problems just silence anyone who mentions them.

Another one, you just haven't been paying attention. Chris Metzen was replaced by someone from Disney when he left years ago.

At this point the whole company is most likely in managed decline, because the people who built the company stood in the way of monetization, and either jumped ship or were tossed aside. Meanwhile the remainder has been "corporatized" and is trying to clone the successful products. This means a lot of bureaucracy, red tape, "managers" running around and stupid orders making no sense coming from above, because the bonus of managers is tied to some performance metrics that have no real impact on how good the end product is.

Star Wars is a prime example how this turns out: They thought "If we build it they will come" and it doesn't matter how good it is, because the fans will buy it anyway. Turns out, that even Disney-level astroturfing hype doesn't save the third turd in a row.

To be fair, the most toxic players are the ones trying to be like their idols from Twitch/Youtube/MDI or whatever, and feel they themselves are great players but are held back by the other players. Basically, Dunning-Kruger in action.

I seriously don't know how you would build a matchmaking system around that. It would probably turn out like the "eternal bronze hell" from LoL, but new players are going to be tossed into that cesspool. That's not a good strategy to attract and maintain new players.

Matchmake new and nice players together, then toxic players together.

End matches with a thumbs up/thumbs down for everyone.
