Best thing they could do is bring private servers into the fold, or stop the fucking rampant betting in their versions.

People don't have a problem paying $15 a month for content that they enjoy that isn't riddled with 5 bots per every real fucking person.

Blizzard can eat a bag of dicks if they think people will go back to their servers with they way they run them.

Yeah we will just hate them more

A sizable portion of people here still buy every single thing from woke nuBlizzard and need their heads pulled from their rear ends

Last leak of sub numbers was over 7 million. If you think Blizzard cares about the under ~100k (dont underestimate the amount of degens who play private cause they literally have zero $) subs they could add by incorporating private servers you are out of your mind, they would rather sue em out of existance and protect their IP. Turtle begging for that is not a great sign if you enjoy playing on that server lol.

WoW aint EQ.

WoW definitely isn't EQ but I highly doubt the "7 million subs" figure. In fact I call absolute bullshit on it.

WoW in its heyday was only about 5.4 million subscribers and then some hodgepodge of chinese "monthly peak concurrent" figures which was loosely translated into a combined total of 10million "subscribers" but ching chongs aren't subs they aren't even people.

I haven't kept up with retail WoW since like 2005 but from all accounts they have fallen mightily from their hey day. Looking at retail servers and populations a quick google search reveals there are only about 3-4 million characters currently active on Retail WoW meaning even if every player only had 1 character there's less than half the total subscribers claimed.

Or because the private servers are better than anything Blizz offers?

i would kinda love it if MMOs made custom playr run rulesets typical and part of the family. like people host ARK servers with a whole bunch of different rules. DoTA was a custom map on WC3. Winter Maul inspired tower shooters. Having those dad servers just be a choice in server select with some explanation would be amazing. Of course blizzard never actually realized they should capitalize on their WC3 maps, so we wouldn't see cross-pollination and improvement with those people.

There's a zero percent chance they have 7m customers.

There is no customer growth in the product. The only people playing it are the same ones who played 20 years ago. They were down to 5.5m a decade ago. Lots of attrition due to people having kids, sick of the daily chores to play, sick of creepy troons in their product announcement videos.

From the perspective of someone who sees something cool on TikTok in WOW, if they wanted to replicate that, it would take three months. Watching tutorials on add-ons, farming rep, and more wizard chore bullshit.

Or they could go play Fortnite and copy their favorite streamer in 20mins.

I get the feeling WoW became popular in China/SEA at some point. Turtle WoW has 1 cluster of servers that are listed as EU and 3 that are CN or SEA. I'm guessing the majority of the playerbase is Eastern now. The same thing happened with League of Legends during the pandemic. League basically died in NA and lost a decent chunk of EU players, but their global playerbase grew massively because the game got popular in CN. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had close to 7 million subs if like 4-5 million were CN.
