DEI Judge.

There is a settlement. No words on what the settlement actually is.

Turtle was so much fun, played there from I think summer 2023 until about 5 months ago. Sad to see all that custom content that was so true to the original disappear.

Crazy how shit really started to hit the fan when THJ had Daybreak go after them.

This is probably Secrets fault since they hated turtlewow as well.

They're hosted in Kazakhstan, no lawsuit is going to take it down.
It won't bring it down in Kazazhstan, but it can and will bring it down everywhere in the world that is part of the various IP treaties. They would be blacklisted by the vast majority of payment processors and server IPs would be black holed by the various Great Firewalls. If any of the devs live in the civilized world, their asses would be on the hook as well.

The shit that went down with THJ didn't even scratch the surface of what the various Intellectual Property laws are designed to do. Micro$oft is not DBG. If they decide Turtle goes down, it will be going down hard. MS lawyers are actually well paid and experienced with this.

If Blizzard can replicate half of what Turtle put out then that will be a step in the right direction for them.

I'm happy I got a Warlock to 60 and did some MC on it. It was a good trip down memory lane. If Bliz does something better I'll consider it a few years down the line.

Lol

They can't even handle the bare minimum of getting rid of bots, there isn't a chance in hell they'd get it even 1/10th right.

Bummer. Probably the best WoW out there.
Never played it, but this was unfortunately inevitable. Once something like this starts getting traction and visibility it becomes something the IP owners have to address. The reason why came up in the THJ case, the owner has a responsibility to proactively act in order to keep their IP protections under the law. Stay small and under the radar, and the company has plausible deniability. Get big and popular, and that's no longer an option.

Once you start taking donations you turbo fuck yourself.

As a correction a bit to the above, it's really the open for business and selling things vs taking donations that is what kills these projects

See ya on Epoch, it is exploding and very well done (since Ascension has fixed it up)

Ascension takes money too though and the overall Ascension wow project is bigger than Turtle ever was. I'd expect that Blizzard targets them eventually.
