I keep cash on hand but only use it for tipping, hookers, and guns. Last week I left my wallet at home when I went to the grocery store so I had to use some of my hooker money to grocerate. It was terrible.

You're not just using Venmo for your hookers?

I think due to being raised by my non-"bank trusting" grandparents (who were post depression folks) I actually seem to have a habit of always wanting to know I have some cash around.

I used to always keep $100 in my wallet for that emergency when I actually needed cash instead of plastic. Then my wife realized there was always cash in my wallet which meant it was always gone when i went to use it. Thus I no longer keep cash in my wallet.

My grandfather raised me to believe that if the police ever stopped you and you had less than $20 in your wallet they could arrest you for vagrancy....

Now , of course, I also grew up in a part of Dallas where I became familiar with the term "walking-around money"

Until just recently I always kept cash on me or in the office. Never know when something comes up. Used to always have cash in hurricane season. Post hurricane no credit card machines and people will take cash for gas and such.

I used to keep cash around the office. Guys get paid on Friday and act like they won the lottery. By Wed. they would be broke and want to sell stuff. I bought several guns like that.

You know you're old when you start watching youtube videos of older stuff and go "Oh yeah I remember that". I was watching a 1970 NASCAR race with all the winged Dodges and a guy was in the pits with a tie on and went over the wall when the car came in. Great video of the 1970 Dodges in the pits.

The amount of times that I've gone to a store when their debit machines were down has made me always keep money on me. There is fuck all worse than going into a store, getting your shit and then getting to the register and having to leave without your shit because they're only accepting cash at the moment.

Growing up in a 'rough' area, I was always taught to keep cash on you, but broken up. A $20 in your shirt/pants pocket, $20 in the top of a sock, rest in a wallet. So if you were rolled, you were unlikely to be left without a way to get home/help.

I have a wellsfargo credit card for most spending and Bill's, 1% cash back I think. Then i have the Amazon credit card for 5% back on Amazon purchases. I might look at getting another card for most my purchases that gives better rewards. I dont travel much so just good cash back will likely be what I go after.

I've found checking my Roth IRA and 401k frequently encourages me to be smarter with $$. I've almost 3x the rate I'm saving this year vs last as a result. Rate being the % of my income going to savings / retirement

I just figured out I'm lactose intolerant too. Lactaid makes pills that work like a fucking champ.

also figured out that egg yolks tear my guts up too (there'g gotta be a fancy name for that like lactose intolerant). Fortunately, egg white omelettes are pretty damn good. It used to be that my sunday breakfast included 3 eggs and a big glass of milk. Followed shortly after by a shit that would lift me off the bowl. I don't miss the sunday shit.

Double header: at the pharmacy to pick up my 90 day supply of BP meds (1), the twenty something pharmacy tech notices my Bill & Ted t-shirt:

PHARMACY TECH: “Is that the movie that has Keanu Reeves?”
BONCH: “.....yeah...”
PHARMACY TECH: “Is it good? What’s it about? I’ve heard of it but haven’t seen it.” (2)
NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD (to Bonch): “Fffuck! You’re old!”

OK, I just need to post this somewhere. But I had my "maybe not ancient" moment today. Full disclosure, I turn 50 in a few weeks. Ever since I had a minor cardiac scare a few years back (and was diagnosed with a low resting heart rate, and a mildly underperforming 4th chamber) I've been on twice a year cardiologist visits.

GOt an Echo-cardiagram today. My heart is actually now outperforming the expectation for my age by about 10%. I still weigh about the same, have around the same activity level, haven't changed significantly in anything. Cardio Dr can't actually explain it, but looked over everything and suggested I not worry about 6 months, just come back in a year and call him if anything interesting happens.

Small victories
.. feels good man.

Haven't masturbated in weeks. Zero desire to fuck. Still look at ass loads of porn for some reason. Dunno. It's no longer an invigorating thing and more like trying to find an idealistic form or image rather than sensation. Even that is starting to feel grossly empty.
