Only thing that's pissed me off is the vanilla announcement. Fucking private server players taking dev resources away from actual new content. If I wanted to run old content I'd farm AP and Legendaries.

short of just having server support it's not like they have much to do in terms of a vanilla server lol, I guess they want to aim for less bug-free but you know that shit is gonna be buggy as hell for 2 years

Hmm article somewhere, forgot where I saw the link, but they were hiring a whole different team and staff for the classic server, so I guess technically its resources away, as all the money to pay for those extra people. But most likely its just extra money that sits around or was going to be for something else.
Found it :
"We’re going to hire people specifically for this job, and we’re going to staff it with people who are interested in bringing back Classic WoW in the best, most authentic way," Brack says. "And that’s how we’ll be successful."

Gotta admit, I'm pretty hype about this expac so far. It sounds like we'll have a ton of actually interesting dynamic-ish content this go rather than just M+.

Hopefully they don't hire anyone from the emu servers because they just all steal money and put fake inflated gold into the market lmao

&& Yeah agreed Palum Palum , if they can actually pull off these islands and the Warcraft 3 campaigns I think I'm going to spend just as much time in this expac than I did in Legion.

No announcement of ATB's release date. No announcement of more server mergers. No date given for the new expansion. All shit.

I think the whole alliance and horde thing is kinda tired though, shrug. However the storylines for each new faction area looks quite interesting and fresh though. But trolls!? Sub-race thingy is interesting, but nightborne for horde only? (thought they may have went panda style with that race actually) What happened to the good high elves from warcraft lore like Alleria? (because its confusing we get this void crap instead) The leveling changes would have been great when Cata came out, but how many new characters are people making these days? But then again that CGI trailer was pretty spectacular huh! Overall mixed feelings on this expansion. Will I buy? Definitely. Which faction, probably both now. LOL

Well most of the high elves are dead or turned into blood elves. The events of WC3:TFT see the failing human kingdoms turn on the high elves so Kael'Thas escapes and hates the Alliance. By the end the Sunwell is destroyed so they turn to Illidan to survive (I guess demon magic kinda but non-Legion demons) and that's really the story of TBC, the restarting of the Sunwell and 'redemption' arc at the end. The only high elves that survived were really the ones with Vareesa that were seconded to the Kirin'Tor which I guess fled during the evacuation of Dalaran before Archimonde leveled the place.

It makes sense they aren't a major faction again because they're all dead or turned to blood elves essentially. That said, the Void Elves make even less sense really. I mean I get the Void Elf being Alleria's storyline but...

PvP-heavy xpac from the company which has spent the last 12 years proving they have no idea how to implement decent pvp into an MMO.... I smell WoD2.0 on the wind. Would have been far more excited for the predicted South Seas/Naga xpac.

Not sure what the fuck is going on at Blizzard, I thought they were finally getting their shit together with Legion. It's not perfect, but imo easily the best xpac since since Wrath, and now this.

No.

It's PvE heavy expac with PvP skins and a WC3 mini game.

I do not find myself excited by this expansion announcement. I think I'm actually more interested in the "Classic" servers, which is shocking to me.

My hope is that like MoP, the overarching theme isn't exciting, which causes them to actually make a decent expansion pack systems/gameplay wise.

I'd be up for reworking the whole Horde-Alliance war thing at some point. There's plenty that has never made sense to me, for example why would the Earth Mother venerating Tauren (especially the druids) side with the Horde that is hell bent on destroying all they hold dear.

I think they should rework it in some future expansion where there are two (or perhaps more?) factions that each race can choose from either at start or switch mid way via a quest chain (like EQ2). Could be Chaos (allied with Burning Legion type demons and shit) and Lore (The Light etc...). If they make it relatively flexible to switch between the two they could balance them out via bonuses, e.g. a small % bonus to gold dropped, honor gain or something like that to the disadvantaged faction that either increases or decrees depending on how great or small the disadvantage in numbers is.

As for Classic, I'm surprised they didn't opt for BC or Wrath, since they are usually considered the "pinnacle" of WoW for so many. Perhaps they're starting with this and if it takes off will introduce the others later. I will definitely be rolling a toon on that server, but how long I stay there will depend on just how "classic" it will be, since let's be honest, there are a number of quality of life improvements that were really lacking in Vanilla, to name the #1 the ability to quickly change spec. If you're forcing people to remain Holy Priests while leveling and shit... that isn't going to go down well. Then there are a number of UI improvements that I'd like to see. But make the actual world and content as close to Vanilla and I'll be a happy puppy.

I could totally see them going into a EQ progression-server type situation if their classic server really takes off. Even EQ's progression servers had QoL shit from later expansions baked in, of course the purists hated the shit out of it but in my opinion it made the whole experience a whole hell of a lot better.

Yeah I don't see them fixing World PvP in the game anytime soon. They haven't realized that the reason it sucks is because of population imbalance and xrealm sharding. They at least understand that flying is bad though they have to cave to the whiners.

Cinematic was amazing, the best one since Wrath (looks better than Wrath in terms of animation/graphical quality - Wrath just had better 'content' in the trailer).

But I am still not sold on this expansion. If it comes out in 6 months (like some people are 'dreaming'), I will be thrilled. I am expecting 9-10 months if we are 'lucky', more like 11-12.

It will be next summer unless they are ready for permanent sub loss.

It was all "those numbers are placeholder" this and "we're doing 6 races now, and we'll do the rest later" that, so they're far from having it done.

Which is why we get some features in 7.3.5, not 8.0...
