Looks cool but I'm still playing Valheim for the first time. I'll probably wait until the first major content release for Enshrouded.

AI: The Rise of the Machines... Or Just a Lot of Overhyped Chatbots?

I'm curious if you've seen anything coding up companion-extending BG3 mods. ElevenLabs is so damn good at duplicating voices, I have to imagine some people are using it to duplicate BG3's characters and creating content around it. I can't be the only one that would replay BG3 if there was a mod...

Valheim - Viking Survival Game (Early Access)

Got to plains, this is also feeling like a sunny vacation after the mountains, though I had (foolishly) built a plains base before killing Moder. My crew is a bit languid, I'll be about done with the plains but we probably won't kill the plains boss for a few weeks.

An old game moving to a home-built engine from an industry standard engine is super rare. Them making this transition without breaking modding is also impressive, but might be evidence they weren't tightly integrated with their game engine. I bet they've hated working in Unity for years. It's...

    Everquest Legends

I know what you mean but I kinda dispute this. Given their pace of development I think it would've been possible to support GoD (which some people would want) and roll a new server (which others would have wanted). And of course there is a third group of people who would say they want to live in...

I don't know how trustworthy it is but https://www.eqemulator.org/index.php?pageid=serverinfo&worldid=4047 Regardless of how it shook out, THJ wasn't some underground secret that Secrets ratted out. Secrets might've been involved in pushing for action against THJ, but that's uhh, more of a...

Not that DBG has their finger on the pulse of their own community, but it doesn't really take a rat to find out about an emulation server when they're making tens of thousands of dollars a month with thousands of daily users for years.

    Everquest Legends

I agree with the advice that this isn't a game people should expect to endlessly play, but most of the hate for this game is due to this game copying a much better version that the owning company forced to close. IP theft aside, if you're going to shut down a third party group and try to rip off...

I never played SimCity2000, but I played a lot of SimCity4. Have you played City2026 and SimCity2000? Just visually it looks very different. Here's a quick review, pretty impressive. I'd be interested to see if anyone is trying to vibe code large changes to it.

Have you played any of the reverse engineered games? I briefly looked and couldn't find someone talking about how complete they are, just that they ran like shit and were glitchy.

I don't dispute anything you've said and have no knowledge in the legality of this topic, but that seems crazy to me and a case where the laws should change.

Agreed. I was excited to get my first trinket but it's never triggered. Maybe it'd trigger during a boss fight? Right now it's not worth an inventory slot.

Me and you both, brother. All I can think of as I play Galactic Racer is how much better it'd be with first party VR support, something that I am disappointed is not trivial for the developers to accomplish despite using a commercial game engine (Unreal Engine 5).

Star Wars Galactic Racer by Fuse Games releasing Oct 6th 2026 for all platforms

Enjoying the game so far, havne't spent too much time. I love the roguelite aspect of it and think it's a good change from the typical "Restart the race until you succeed". I can see getting tired of it when I get further along though.

A few recs: Divine Dungeon: similar to Blue Core in that it's a dungeon book. It's also one of the older series and one of the few concluded ones, I kind of view it as essential reading for LitRPG fans. Life Reset: similar to Chrysalis in that it's a monster, base building litrpg. Like...

An annoying aspect about reading books for me is that if I read a critical review of a book where a certain downside is highlighted like, "The author overuses this phrase" or "This side character is given a lot of boring development time with no real payoff" is that seeing that review worsens my...

EQ's "Hardcore Heritage" zones are a perfect template for this. Keep the old zone, but offer a revamped zone that makes the content and rewards relevant. You'd have to ignore what they said in their publisher letter to think they're doing that, but we'll see what they come up with.

ah, sorry, I misread. Yeah getting to max trophies and basic skill to 300 isn't bad. Other than Unfired Spherical Bottle there aren't any super easy recipes that were introduced with vendors in new expansions. The path to 300 was made much easier because every expansion since TBL introduced...

It's good that you're legitimately impressed by the robotics because that's the hard part. Also, vacuums also work just fine on hard floors for light-duty debris removal. The important part is that they have to be configured for them to avoid scuffing the surface. My home vacuum has two...

Yes, but you can "level" it higher by learning more recipes. Like, 1,000 recipes to max it out. This is, of course, tedious AF and only recommended if you enjoy it. The marine unit in SC is a bit interesting because it's so closely related to other IPs that make them extremely powerful units, including WH40K, Fallout, Halo. They're overpowered to sell dolls (wh40k) and to provide the player power (halo, fallout), but when that unit concept is ported...
