    The Mandalorian

Mando is one of those shows that seems rigidly aligned to an initial storyboard. They NEEDED to have a campfire scene and cliff-climbing scene, so they had to invent a reason for both. They don't seem to care enough to try to do anything but hamfist the plot around those initial storyboards...

One of the first things I do in my playthroughs is cheat some of those boots for everyone in my part. It's an unfair advantage in combat but idc.

Also note that Potions of Master Thievery are common IIRC, allowing you to just potion your way through high level locks with a modest level of thievery. I always had enough to spare so I don't know how annoying it'd be to do this in early game.

    The Mandalorian

I've enjoyed the Mando show but yeah, you have to suspend disbelief constantly to enjoy it. Like @Burns says the whole jet fuel can't melt steel dragons is sooo sloppy. They just needed a way for Starbuck to assert dominance and show genius and that was the first way they could come up with. The...

When I do my next BG2 playthrough I'll probably either mod them out or do something to make them less obnoxious. After 60 years of either steamrolling the traps and absorbing the damage or having a thief sloooowly plod through I think I've had enough.

The above post was produced with 1lbs of carbon emissions. It kinda missed the point of Jyggalag, which isn't that he wants to reduce everything to simple order, but instead that he believes all things are contained by order, no matter how apparently chaotic they are. I probably derailed it with...

I hope ES6 goes hard on the procedural simulation stuff. Feels like Skyrim moved more toward a theme-park design with a massive number of hand-crafted encounters built on top of a moderate procedural platform. I imagine ES6 will be the same but I'd love to see them really embrace some dynamic...

Rushing and skipping through content and then exploit-killing a boss you have no business fighting to get some OP weapon that obliterates the first half of a game is a favorite thing to do in games. The dungeon leading to Firkragg and the dragon himself is no joke. Good luck. I'd recommend...

For Ultima, I'd start with Ultima 7 part 1. To this day Ultima 7 has the best background NPC lifecycles of any game and I don't know why. A farmer will: Wake up Till / scythe their fields in random locations Pause for lunch Work some more Go eat dinner at a pub Maybe go to "church" or do some...

Baldur's Gate casters are kinda high-effort, high-reward. If your party is in a state where it can just enter a room, auto-attack clear it, quaff a couple healing potions, loot up and move on, that's the optimal path to take most of the time. Anytime you're pausing to cast spells, you're not...

    Chorus - Space Combat Sim - 2021

The thing I miss most about Chorus is the bloodthirsty AI egging you on. I can't think of another game that has such a purely vicious AI intent on the destruction of enemies. Usually AIs in games are trying to instill an artificial sense of challenge in the player by building up the enemy's...

I'm curious to know how close this is to your perception of Donut. I can't think of Donut or Carl any other way than how Jeff Hays does it. I listen to audio books when doing chores, driving (my commute is also 3 miles tho), hanging out at the park, walking with my kids etc etc. I also...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

Yeah. Adding key broadcasting to EQ clients would massively improve boxing QOL for all the plebs not using ISBoxer or MacroQuest2. I don't really trust DPG to do it though, and if they made vanilla boxing stronger it'd make non-boxers feel like they are being told they need to shell out more $$$...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

If all they did was allow you to pay double for a sub so you could login 2 characters on your account simultaneously it'd be pretty useful. It might decrease revenue because then people like me would be motivated to consolidate to fewer accounts, so we'd pay less per expansion. Alternatively...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

As a boxer, EQ is kinda unique in being a party CRPG in an MMO with boxing. It's massive group synergy, non-movement combat and high mob difficulty ceiling is very different from every other MMO out there. By high mob difficulty I mean that the # of mobs you can kill can scale very high. A few...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

I know this is the TLP thread, but here's are some sample gameplay loop for some rando coming back to EQ on live who doesn't want to box 2 (or even 3 might be needed to level effectively depending on their class choices) characters: Level 1: Get a journeyman merc tank, watch it obliterate...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

The test server is a barely used smoke-test to see if changes break before deploying an already frozen patch . TLP as a test-bed for the game makes perfect sense because it gives them freedom to try new ideas to attract cyclical TLP players and their $$$ with them.

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

A system where level 1 noobs can join a max-level group and get squire'd up so they're not a complete liability and waste would fill a massssssive hole in live EQ where if you're not boxing, don't have people to carry you and aren't playing a necro that can just solo effectively, getting to max...

EQ TLP - Oakwynd (Evolving Ruleset Progression Server)

EQ is ripe for hard-mode and level scaling in live and TLP. All the raids in the current expansion was beaten by every bush-league raiding force the first night. I was able to box all the challenge achievements in the missions without a ton of upgrades and even with a newbie tank. TLP just seems...

    Hogwarts Legacy

Chance of Hogwarts Legacy being GOTY is pretty low, IMO. It's a great game and more than any other game I've played creates a vibrant world in Hogwarts but is isn't so impressive that it'll beat literally every other game releasing this year.

    The Mandalorian

This was my take. Bo was shown to be extremely irreverent in contrast to the Mandalorian cult. Her being confronted by the mythosaur shook her enough to make her not immediately say there's a mythsaur down there right after making fun of the statue description talking about the mythosaur. Not...

    The Mandalorian

I don't care that much and I'm probably in the minority on this but if a TV show is going to have a POV character that doesn't interact with the main POV character I'd much prefer they occupy a large contiguous space in an episode instead of flipping between characters. Such that I'd prefer they...

    Cities Skylines II

endgame arco buildings were cool. If you built a few hundred of the Launch Arcos (shown on the right) they will "launch". . I never played City Skylines hard enoiugh to get to "endgame" but I hope they have something like that. Whenever I play city builders I try to build as big of a city as...

    The Last of Us

Yeah I had to suspend disbelief on that. I kind of expected them to take custody of Elle, treat her like a lab rat and Joel to come back and break her out. The way they went of, "all right we found this golden goose, let's skip the golden egg part and just see if it has a bunch of gold inside"...

    The Last of Us

I don't agree with this but it depends on the producibility of it. The brutality of the local human population is predicated on the risk of acquiring resources without getting bitten. Reduce the risk of acquiring resources and the population will be less desperate. I don't know anything about...

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

I played Fallout 1 after FO3 came out I think. It held up nicely. If you like BG1 I think you'll enjoy Fallout 1. @Rajaah impressive progress! In the time you've gone through a huge chunk of BG1 I've played for about an hour and it's been the only game I've played. Keep us up to date!

    The Last of Us

One part I did enjoy is the end where Joel's nature as a fiercely protective father figure is exposed in its full brutality. Before the cult episode he was just doing a job, and after he had a second daughter. A running theme in the show is "world's fucked, take care of your own". This is shown...
