But it goes the other way too. If he's mediocre because he hasn't played football in 8 years and gets to stay on the roster it can get sketchy.

A little over $700k for base salary. Sounds like real cheap hope signing throwing shit at the wall to see who can stick at TE for them.

Salary is most irrelevant to what I was talking about. There's limited roster slots and if players feel like he's getting one over a better player because of the circus then it can be an issue.

Depends if it's a "guarantee" he makes the roster or not. Plenty of teams are signing random vets/etc as camp bodies. No idea how much of his contract is guaranteed but that low a salary might mean there's no expectation for him to definitely make the roster unless he actually performs.

I could totally see it being a camp body/drum up some headlines signings for the Jags.
