Everyone hates it. I mean its like the single most hated AC since the first one. Its really sad but its true. The only part people liked, the ship stuff, had an entire game made out of it (AC4) so yeah ,just skip it.
"Hate" is a strong word, but yeah, my two major complaints were that it felt like they weren't able to mesh the story and the history together in a sufficiently organic manner, and it felt a little like the game was suffering from feature bloat, with too many game features which didn't hang together in a narratively coherent manner. Granted, that was kind of an issue in the series from Brotherhood, onwards, but it went too far in AC3.

Oh yeah, and that crafting was the clunkiest gameplay system I've yet to come across in a game.

desmond storyline is
ac
ac2
ac2:B
ac2:R
ac3

of that altair's is
ac

of that ezio's is
ac2
ac2:b
ac2:R

of that indian dude is
ac3

you can quite literally skip ac3 and "almost" not miss a thing BUT ac3 does "conclude" the entire desmond line.

this is only if you care about the apple of edens and the "others"

imo ac was hard to play only cuz i played ac2 first (i wanted to see altair's story)

ezio's story (ac2/ac2:B/ac2:R) is pretty awesome, i had a blast with it b/c right after finished the trilogy i went to the venice/florence/rome for my honeymoon, and wanted to free climb the colusseum!

gameplay wise i think it get's great after ac2:B cuz of your "crew"

ac2:R was just more of the same, except it's old ezio, but it's still ezio

ac3 is just so hard to play, cuz it takes 4 hours before you play that damn indian. and that indian is so damn boring, i swear T hawk from street fighter 2 has more personality, (this is after experiencing 3 games with ezio, you get... the most boring protagonist)

I think Ubisoft fucked up by making that 4 hour tutorial include the player playing a much cooler, much more interesting character than the Injun.

Then you all of a sudden find out that the dude you're playing for the main game isn't the dude you've been playing for 4 hours who is awesome. That just twists the knife.

The Ezio portion of the series will probably always be its pinnacle in terms of everything just coming together nicely.

It was odd playing the anglo first. I didn't like the injun as child part of the game. I liked killin redcoats just fine though, and the branch paths were better than Istanbul. In Istanbul I had to get down from buildings so often because of dumb gaps that it was faster to just ride my horse around town.

AC3 being 100% Hathaway and making an entire game from the Templar's perspective would have been mind-blowing and awesome, especially how they could have written Desmond's reaction to it.

Shame they fucked up and missed such a huge opportunity.

Concur with this: having you play a "good" Templar -- which is to say, showing how the Templar ideology can benefit people -- would've been a more interesting approach on multiple levels. They still would've needed to adjust the 2012 writing, because honestly I really think they jumped ship and kind of retcon'd things since Revelations with it.

Just beat all the games in 1 week minus Black Flag. Revalations was the best 3 was the worst "where is Lee!" The last chase against lee, how was that aloud to make it to launch? Worst shit ending ever.

That said im stoked for Black Flag when I get my PS4.

Black Flag is the best game in the series. After playing through all of them, this is the only one that doesn't get boring as fuck within 4 hours.

Mainly because I am having a blast on my pirate ship.

I've never played 1. I played through 2 way back when it came out and really enjoyed it. I just started to play part 3, which came with the PS3 I bought last year. This one is fucking terrible.

It's buggy and boring and I only just got to the part where you become the Indian dude. I don't think I'm even going to bother with it. I have AC4 coming for PS4 this week. SHould I just skip 3? Maybe just read a synopsis on it?

Yes skip it, the end is infuriating.

Just finished AC4 and I have to say it was a blast the whole way through. I finished with 95% but will go back and get the last 5%. I'm not sure how Ubi can top this game with AC5 though.

About 80% done and 4 is the best AC since 2 imo. Edward is a revelation compared to Connor. Free roaming the Jackdaw plundering ships and tropical islands are all fun as hell. The crafting in this game isn't completely retarded like it was in 3. All good.

The new present day gameplay is pretty interesting aswell when you can start hacking random computers and get some interesting stuff to read/listen too for the lore fanatics.

what i didn't like about ac4, zero "jump puzzles" as in jump here to advance there, kinda got used to that, but i don't miss it.
too many "guns" projectiles as usual

you can board a ship of 0/20 men and range kill everyone from the ground

nothing beats being a master assassin and having your own crew

zero story of the other civilization

hacking challenges were beyond dumb, prime numbers and digital frogger?

what i liked

pirate ship, it's just fun to take down entire fleets of ships

not the indian

very little "desmond" outside animus stuff

huge map

what's multiplayer like? i never play multiplayer for these games, maybe i'll try.

PC version is starting to make the rounds on torrent sites. I'm kind of torn which version to buy and play - PC or PS4. PS4 has extra story DLC I think?, dunno though how image quality, etc is for PC vs PS4.

you can buy a nvidia/amd code for AC4 + Splinter Cell Blacklist (PC) for $30 or so on eBay, I have tried playing Splinter Cell and it is a complete piece of shit at the moment.

also wtf is AC: Liberation, noticed that on steam and it says coming Jan 2014. You play some chick assassin in America in 1765? Was it some android game or something just being ported?

Liberation was a Vita title - French-African New Orleans female lead.

Wife is excited for it is all I really know past that though.

On AC4 MP - hard to describe it if you've not done it before its not too tweaked from other ACs - besides the make your own mode variant which is mostly scoring tweaks and other obvious options to add - but its decent, the L55 grind for the trophy is looking long though if that's part of your interest.

Looking 1 hr per level roughly thus far. Maybe 2 levels an hour.
