The one that had the Apple engineer behind the wheel that didn't take control of the vehicle when he was told to? The one who allegedly complained repeatedly about his auto pilot not working right and still used it anyway?
Tesla says that those complaints are #fakenews.

The quote from Tesla was essentially "Our service records don't show any history of auto pilot issues," which I understood to mean "We didn't fix anything on that car, and we sure as hell didn't make a record of complaints we weren't able to reproduce." They did have a record of some kind of navigation issue, but not auto pilot.

I think the article I read a couple days ago quotes his parents about the auto pilot complaints. So it sounds like there was probably some operator error involved, at the very least in the form of unrealistic expectations of how that particular auto pilot was supposed to work.

LaGuardia Airport’s security robot is giving women the creeps

“It’s upsetting to have that thing creep up on you,” said one female security guard at the airport, adding that she had just fended it off with a luggage cart.
“It’s a pain in the ass. It keeps bothering people.”

But the Dalek-style droid does appear to spend its day sniffing around workers and travelers.
The aforementioned female guard blamed male colleagues for hijacking the bot to “get a better look” at her.

Several other female passengers said they were irked when the machine rolled up and ogled them Thursday.

“It was coming right up to me, and at first, I was like, ‘What the freak is that?’ ” said Kris Cabagnot, 31, after the robot sat 10 inches away from her knee for a minute.

Its going to be interesting, the thing is following painted lines and on the street next to it you see faded out or plain missing lines. The way China is known to handle maintenance in general i expect this in the news in next 5-10 years followed by tragedy and unforeseen in some combination.

The first WTF WERE THEY THINKING moment in that paper actually happened when I saw the X shaped sidewalk in the median. If you look at the street view you can see the signs that clearly say to use the crosswalk, which look almost as retarded as a "do not sit" sign on a park bench, or a "no parking" sign at the entrance of a parking lot. Almost.

Google Maps

The second WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE moment is the really fucking big one though:
At 1.3 seconds before impact, the self-driving system determined that an emergency braking maneuver was needed to mitigate a collision (see figure 2). 2 According to Uber, emergency braking maneuvers are not enabled while the vehicle is under computer control, to reduce the potential for erratic vehicle behavior. The vehicle operator is relied on to intervene and take action. The system is not designed to alert the operator.

How in the fuck did that get approved by anyone?

Boring Company announced plans to build a single tunnel in LA to transport 1,400 people to Dodger Stadium per game.
Dugout Loop

This replaces some bullshit test they were working on.

Obviously we're still really early on, the real tech is still on the drawing board and transporting 2.5% of a stadium's capacity isn't going to change the world, but I'm excited to see how this plays out.

I'm not sure why they opted to go for a one-way tunnel that runs infrequently instead of a two-way tunnel that runs 24/7. IT could be that they'll want to have brief moments of high-capacity usage followed by extended periods of investigation, testing, changes etc. Sort of like a monthly weekend test of an MMO in beta.

I am all for Elon pushing the electric transportation angle but i cant shake the feeling he is just reinventing the wheel on this one.
Tunnels, Electric carts, this whole thing feels like a proprietary take on subways. Is the high speed and the smaller cart size the only difference or is there something more substantial.

We'll see. He hasn't said anything substantial about specific tech improvements he plans on making in boring tech that would get him the 10% of current costs figures he's talking about.

The only approach change they are talking about vs every other tunnel is to keep the tunnels to single tubes only. So they have one big boring machine that just bores and installs the whole thing as it digs. This isn't a concept unique to TBC of course.

In contrast to these other options, Musk is talking about making much smaller tunnels that would only transport cars or people on electric skates. Instead of underground highways.

I'd "guess" desire paths, that got paved.. but, crosswalks never added to the road. but yeah, path coming out to 4-5lane road... pretty stupid. no signs. no crosswalk, etc.
