Mainly posting because this used to be an epic TV show thread once upon a time, on par with GoT, or any other recent, popular shows. I wish we still had those threads, there was gold in them thar old posts.

Tell @a_skeleton_03 to put his Trump bucks toward Requiem's ask.

If this piece of shit admin had pinched enough pennies and eschewed worldly pursuits we could have nice things again-- at no cost to us of course, because we wouldn't have it any other way.

Ill go ahead and take my show all at once over a thread full of autists spurging out for months thanks
Sperging out for years was by far the best part of BSG, LOST, GOT, since they all shit their pants 2/3rds of the way through.

"The new thing", how big is your cave?

I wait for seasons to be over with so I can binge them if they are released weekly.

Then you are not a contributor to epic TV show threads. Fuck off.

They should have rebooted the 70s version of Buck Rogers. It would work in the SJW world of current TV, Shitlord spaceman frozen in time comes back to earth full of faggots and has to learn to be a bisexual communist to blend into current society.

Moore's BSG reboot was basically 2003 (mini-series) through 2009. Not forever ago, but it's been off the air for more than a decade.

Last I recollect, the "reboot" plan was for it to take place in Moore's BSG universe, although whether that comes down to aesthetics or actual lore remains to be seen.

It's produced by Sam Esmail (Mr Robot, Homecoming), he got a nice producing deal with NBC, so people are like "BSG + Esmail = woah". The actual developer, Michael Lesslie is some random writer with mediocre gigs (Assassin's Creed, the Macbeth with Fassbender) and while it's sold as a "reboot" I'd be cautious about what's being developed story wise.

I'm a big fan of BSG2000... Although, truth be told, I found that the stories were always a little to dark. From '03 through '09 it had few moments that were not overly-noir. I guess, it was true to it's premise-- the extinction of hundreds of billions of people down to 50,000+ is not a set-up for happiness. Still, the cast and the crew really outdid themselves. Acting was top-notch and writing was superb. The show was ever-under the threat of cancellation, despite it's very loyal fan-base. (Actually, I remember a fringe contingent early on very upset that "Starbuck is a girl?"). Try watching the original-- with the exception of the opening, it was almost exclusively pure Star-Wars rip-off cheese...

I don't have high hopes for the re-boot. But then again, who knew such fine fruit would grow from the cadaver of the original cheese-fest? I know Romo (Ronald Moore) and a none of the BSG2000 writers are involved. Even so, it's possible that it might work...

A fun thing to do is to go through the BSG2000 episodes and then listen to the Battlestar Galaticast podcast. Tricia Helfer and Mark Bernardin are a ton of fun to listen to.

Crappy? I liked the BSG reboot, but the original series was much better. There's more important things than special effects.

That's highly doubtful since Ronald Moore is with AppleTV (For All Mankind) and Jane Espenson is developing a HBO show with Joss Whedon. I'm not saying it's impossible, but seeing how TV shows are developed these days, there's not much incentive hiring such profiles as "writers", it would be like Amazon hiring Peter Jackson as a script for their LotR TV show.

From the article

BSG fans, this will NOT be a remake of the amazing series @RonDMoore launched because ... why mess with perfection? Instead, we’ll explore a new story within the mythology while staying true to the spirit of Battlestar. So say we all!" Esmail tweeted Tuesday.

Apparently it’s going to take inspiration from Moore’s BSG vs the original, although not sure how to take the quote. New story means not the “cylons frakked our planet, time to find Earth!” maybe? Or redoing all the characters perhaps?

I’ll reserve judgement til I know more
The only way this quote makes any sense and the show is still reasonably called Battlestar Galactica and actually "within the mythology" is if it's the story of Battlestar Galactica during the first war.

Eh, different tastes. I mean, it was enjoyable in the way the A-Team or Knight Rider was enjoyable as a kid. You watch it today and it doesn't hold up well lol

was this news when it happened? they started a gofundme couple of days ago

Battlestar Galactica Star Michael Hogan Suffered Massive Brain Injury
On Feb. 17, 2020, everything changed drastically in our world. Michael was in Vancouver participating in a Battlestar Galactica convention, and at dinner following his day’s work, he fell and hit his head. Hard. He went to bed that night not realizing that the impact had caused a massive brain bleed. He was unable to be woken the next morning and was taken to Vancouver General Hospital and emergency surgery performed. It took 57 staples to close the part of his scull they had to remove in order to reach the damage.

The accident left him with complete paralysis on his left side, memory loss, cogntivie impairment and an inability to swallow.
Then things became incredibly more difficult during the COVID pandemic with visits by family being restricted then denied and no care team (physiotherapist,
OT, speech therapist, etc. ) allowed in.

Needless to say, this life changing injury has sent a tsunami of heartbreak through the family. And with recovery relying heavily on contact with family as critical members of the health care team, the agony of separation is indescribable.

Susan has been exhaustingly researching Michael’s frequently changing medical conditions, and is in daily contact with his doctors, nurses, specialists, and social workers.

On June 18th Michael was moved into The Berkley Care Centre in North Vancouver. Susan is allowed limited supervised visits - socially distanced, no contact, no touching, not even a smile can be exchanged given the mandatory face masks. For someone with a brain injury that face, that smile, that contact with a family member is critical grounding for them. To be denied that is torturous.

Susan has finally been able to find and get permission for a physiotherapist to go into the facility 2 or 3 times a week. Michael still cannot stand and needs an overhead lift to be moved from the bed to the wheelchair. He still requires a feeding tube into his stomach. He has regained his speech and is largely coherent and cognizant but there is a long long road ahead.

Though it is hard to imagine, I think it’s fair to say it is unlikely Michael will be able to work again but he is ONE TOUGH guy, so it also wouldn't surprise me if he found a way! But for these past seven months, Susan has also been unable to work, given the circumstances . She is facing an uncertain future to navigate other than knowing that the financial demands will continue to be great. There are the known costs of the Long Term Care facility, a customized wheelchair, a private physiotherapist to tend to him there, and ongoing costs of medications, foot care, adaptive clothing etc. And if he’s able to come home which would be far preferred - an overhead lift to move him from bed to wheelchair, a hospital bed, ramps, one to two live-in care-aids, renovations to accommodate the wheelchair including doorways and bathrooms, and a vehicle to accommodate the wheelchair.
