Miller had some real style at least even if you found it sloppy. There was a visual flair to it.

Ultimate FF was always a pretty weak comic, but they had some flat out gorgeous art at times in the earlier issues. Not sure which artists were the great ones, I'll look a bit.

Greg Land had some good stuff.



Jae Lee and Stuart Immonen were both decent as well, but yeah Greg Land is the one I was thinking of. Looking at other examples of his work I just really like the style I guess.

To be fair a lot of the entries on that tumblr are insanely nitpicky and stupid. Spider-Woman's legs though is straight up Rob Liefeld.

Clearly, Jim Lee is great as an artist. As is Greg Capullo from the older Spawn issues. And lastly, I loved Michael Turner. He drew Witchblade, Aspen, and a few others.

I think it's because the decent artists demand a higher paycheck, and Marvel and other companies aren't willing to put out that money unless you have a proven name. It's a catch 22. You're worth more but have no name, and they won't pay you what you're worth because you have no name. It's silly, but that's business in general. The person always loses out and will either take a cut from what they're actually worth, or will move on and do something that will actually pay them as a result.

The cheaper product almost always wins. That's why McD's is so damn popular instead of ANY better hamburger.

I think it was this thread where we recently talked about how writers are the big stars in comics now where it used to be artists.

I really like that Ultimate Fantastic Four story with the Super Skrull. It's got one of my favorite endings of any comic ever.

yeah. honestly "cheating" isn't really the problem.
Every artist SHOULD use references. and the path you take to get an end result isn't that big a deal. Tracing, if it does the job well, isn't that big of a deal even. Lightboxing is an age old technique.

The main problem is, the end result looks like shit. He's so fucking lazy about it. Perceptive doesn't work. Composition doesn't work. Completely inappropriate orgasm faces, blowjobs and handjobs in kids comics.
And copyright infringement. going to steal, it needs to be transformative.
