End of the day, does the $10 matter if you enjoy it? That’s not even one cocktail or glass of wine at a restaurant.

The emu community better hope EQL succeeds too, because they are in the crosshairs whether it succeeds or not. Its success is the only way DBG is going to allow them to continue. They only care about $$$, and letting people run free servers doesn't put any in their pockets, and ostensibly draws people away from live servers.Really good point about it needing to be better than tlp or even free emu. It is just beta, but in it's current state it's no where near as engaging as ascendant or perky.
Uhh….ok. Or it just isn’t a meaningful amount of money for my entertainment?Slave mentality.
You are a slave to the Margarita.Uhh….ok. Or it just isn’t a meaningful amount of money for my entertainment?
Well let’s be real, they are tasty. You are a slave to the Margarita.

They are making a game. Until it is released it won't be better or worse than itself. You can compare it to other games, but that is irrelevant. If they want to offer $$$ unlock options, that's fine. As long as the in game method works, that has nothing to do with me. Long ass camps for rare drops is classic EQ. If they do the THJ and sell ginormous bags, I will happily drop cash on them. You are free to hate on the game if that's what makes you happy, but that isn't going to change anything for anyone else. This is the first emu that has DBG's blessing and backing. It's not about the money. They're actively deciding to make the game worse in hopes you will give them more money. It's like tipping someone extra for giving you bad service.

I did pay for bags in THJ. No ragerts. Will happily pay for bags in EQL if that's on the menu.As with anything I’ll reserve final comment for when I see it, but I think the general sentiment of “take THJ and misunderstand everything that made it fun, then charge for it” is spot on here. I would have happily paid for THJ exactly as it were.
was it perfect? No. Did they slowly try to make it better? Yes. But most importantly, it was just plain fun. Trying crazy combos, not having to farm stupid fucking keys from 10 years ago, ability to solo with challenge or go with friend and make it a bit easier. See things you may have missed back in the day, everything of note instanced, short lockouts, respawn and no respawn modes…etc
I’m genuinely amazed how they can fuck something up so badly
So... that makes it okay to intentionally make things tedious and P2W?This is the first emu that has DBG's blessing and backing.
No, but it makes it unique. Tedious and p2w are subjective terms, so whatever you are meaning by that probably should be clarified. The only thing I have heard about is xp pots, which... not p2w in my opinion. There is no benefit other than saving a little bit of time getting to cap or farming aas.So... that makes it okay to intentionally make things tedious and P2W?
XP pots are subjective in the p2w field. No, but it makes it unique. Tedious and p2w are subjective terms, so whatever you are meaning by that probably should be clarified. What makes EQL a gacha game? It's wild how you guys defend this blatant phone/gacha game bullshit.
Option 1 Clear plane of Sky a dozen times while keeping 12 bags full of random bullshit and maybe not get the drops you need
Option 2 Pay 10$ in the cash store.
It's just a cash grab, it serves no purpose.
Some people don't know what gacha is.What makes EQL a gacha game?
Much like MMORPGs, the salt is the keyYou are a slave to the Margarita.
What makes EQL a gacha game?

No. Pay to skip tedium != p2w. Honestly, if you find the in game way too tedious, that might be an indicator you might not want to play it. Tedium is 125% pure EQ, and why we all remember the epic quests. So far, I haven't heard anything that would make me not have fun, but the proof is going to be in the pudding.XP pots are subjective in the p2w field.
However they have been intentionally vague on tokens and items to upgrade gear.
Yes it's to early to say, however with the way things look and their saying "There will be other ways to get them" it heavily implies that tokens and items to upgrade gear will be in the shop. Being that the Tokens are going to be tedious and upgrading will also be tedious don't you think that that is P2W?
I'd say there is a strong argument that if you're feeling the need to pay to skip "tedium" that they game was poorly designed... OR they add the tedium to get you to pay. The latter probably being far more likely. Thats the core argument against MTX, the game gets designed to maximize players reaching for the credit card instead of maximizing fun. Even cosmetics are corrosive to the game play experience.No. Pay to skip tedium != p2w. Honestly, if you find the in game way too tedious, that might be an indicator you might not want to play it. FFXIV lets people pay to skip the MSQ. WOW lets people buy max level for a character. What exactly are you winning if you pay to skip? A little bit of time you won't have to spend in the game, which for me seems stupid, because I am playing a game specifically to spend the time in it and enjoy the experience of it.
